What is your dream writing job?

Other than being in the shoes of Stephen King, JK Rowling, or Stephanie Meyers sitting at home and writing whatever and whenever you wanted, knowing that, as soon as it was published, your work would be a smash and there'd be a movie made, what is your dream writing job?

Without doubt, I'd want to be sitting at home writing best selling novels. If I had a choice of winning the lottery or writing best selling novels, I'd chose the latter.

I wish Literotica paid me a penny a word to write. It wouldn't be a huge fortune, but I would have earned more than $50,000 by now. On the flip sice and as a bonus, it would be nice to be paid a penny a hit, too.

I'd love for a famous producer to discover one of my stories and want to make a movie from it. That's my dream. Working on a movie set and helping to write the scenes and the dialogue, but not in screenplay format.

I took a couple of screenplay classes and I'd rather write novels and stories than screenplays.

Screenplays are only 120 pages, based on a movie minute a page. Most of what you write, as a writer, is dialogue and whatever you write is loosely based on the director's inspiration and the actor's interpretation. Ergo, in order for you to be paid and to be successful, as a screenplay writer in the movie business, you must swallow hard and shut up.

"Cut! Hey! That's not what I meant when I wrote that scene. You're ruining my work. You've changed everything. My character doesn't get fucked up the ass, she blows the guy."

"Security! Escort Freddie off the set."

After being thrown off the movie set, I'd want to write a weekly situation comedy. Yeah, that's a lot of fun, but in the vein of Rob Petrie of the Dick Van Dyke show, how awesome that would be to be tossing out gags to write about as one of the writers?

So, my question to you, if you had a magic wand, if you had some control of what you write and how you could write it to earn a living, what would your dream writing job be?

I've always thought my Crew series would be a natural for a director like Rob Zombie.

I think just to write.

When I was young I did manage to write for a (very poor) living for a few years.

I've now gotten used to a standard of living, but it's not, as you say, in the big league, so what would be great would be to earn as much, or almost as much, as I do now from writing.

And definitely novels and stories. Film screenplays, poetry, radio or tv don't appeal at all.

Trouble is, just like in the music industry, all the money goes to the top and there's hardly any left at the bottom end to support the "jobbing writers" that used to be able to make a living at one time.
