Do The Right Thing will always be a favorite of mine.

But I think his best movie was "Clockers."

Any of you people seen it? It's an old flick by now.

I still like School Days, followed by Jungle Fever.

Do The Right Thing is a good film though.

Can't say, because, I havn't seen a Spike Lee movie, in a long time. Besides, I don't like the guy, anyway.

WHY NOT???????

I like Jungle Fever, mostly because I like Annabelle Sciorra.

She's Gotta Have It is neat for that rape scene and Mars Blackmon.

What do the call it when you're racist, only, for white people? That's why. I don't know if he is. Just, it seems like that.

I have had a crush on Annabella since Goodfellas.

Fucking eyes that drool and an overbiye that says "Kiss me."

Spike knows talent,

Who gives a shit about Spike. I am talking about filmmaking.

I liked School Daze because I thought it did a great job of depicting the itraracial schism that existed/exists in the black community, especially among the intelligentsia. Although ta the time it came under attack as a lampoon and a caricature, it was the first film to show that there was not a single, unified front.

I also liked that it was introspective - rather than pointing the finger at an external demon, it chose to uncover some of those that lie within.

As for Jungle Fever, I liked it because rather than going the easy route and embracing the cliches, he tried to show that the interactions had a basis in something other than simple "fascination". Where I think it fell short was that he seemed to posit that the differences in culture almost doomed it to failure, which I don't agree with.

Wait a second - actually, my favorire was Mo' Better Blues! Aside from having a kick ass soundtrack, I liked that it told a great story - about the rise and fall and rise again of an artist.

While I thought Do The Right Thing was powerful, I know too much about what inspired it and I think Spike took the easy way out. He started to go down the path of showing how gray the lines were between community and culture but he punked out and reduced it to black and white when there were clearly more shades of gray.

Well, in that case, I suppose he's ok. I still couldn't tell you his best, because, it's been a while since I saw 1 of his movies.

Mo betta had an excellent soundtrack- but Spikes dad was a jazzzzzman.

How come nobody likes Clockers? I must be some kind of freak of nature.

Girl 6 is probably my favorite, and I'm really not sure why, other than that I first saw it when I was working as a phone sex operator. I enjoyed Malcolm X, but I don't know if I'd ever sit through it again--those 3 hour + movies are kind of a one-time thing.

Do the Right Thing kind of bothers me--although I think Danny Aiello is the problem.

The Original Kings of Comedy was funny as hell, as was She's Gotta Have It. Oh, and 4 Little Girls was one of the best documentaries I've ever seen. I think that should count for something, too.

You know, the short answer would have been "I don't know. I like lots of them."

Somebody like "Girl 6" too. That was a truly bad movie.

"Clockers" was too long.

I like long movies. Usually they have more depth and character development.

Summer of Sam and Hoop Dreams are good films. I really like the basketball one.

Guess I need to watch more Spike Lee.

Clockers rocks if you have not seen it.

"thru the dome"

Hey I was one of those people who liked Girl 6!

It had a prince soundtrack, and Spike knew to give Madonna a role which wasn't much of a stretch.

My spike faves...

Do the right thing "This is a story about LOVE.....and HATE"

She's gotta have it

School Daze ( I must have seen it 40 times and I know all the words to the songs, plus that badass cameo by Samuel L Jackson.

Jungle Fever only for Making Halle Berry look really fucked up and that Badass Samuel L Jackson cameo.

Malcolm X

for the post WB era

He Got Game for giving a a pornstar the chance to go legitimate.

The Original Kings of Comedy

and the little known saturday morning cartoon pilot.

Did anyone see John Leguizamo's Freak? Spike Lee directed his one man show. It turned me around on JL.

Do The Right Thing...especially on Criterion DVD. the colors are just so vibrant...it's like watching a completely new movie. i've had the VHS for a long time but when i saw it on CC, it just blew me away visually.

X...just a great story. you can just catch it at any point and start watching it.

Freak...i didn't know if this should count cuz he just directed a stage show of John Leguizamo's. BUT he did direct it and captured a lot of cool things i think a "regular" TV director might have missed. he blended the two show's he taped very well and even kept a couple of mistakes which i thought gave it a more LIVE feel.
