What is it that attracts us ordinary folk to examine the lives of "celebrities", be they figures in literature, government, business, entertainment, crime, etc.?? What draws millions of people to read People, Vanity Fair, US, and a bizillion other like minded magazines. Why do we watch the award shows where these folks fawn over each other like they were something special?? Are our own lives so empty that we need "celebrities" to make us feel good?

Can you imagine a "celebrity" caring anything about your life or the lives of your family members. I say fuck 'em. Instead, spend your time improving your life and the lives of your loved ones. Forget the self indulgent award shows and the gossip columns. Forget the fan magazines. Revolt, the sooner the better.

It is amazing how much money we spend so that these "celebrities" can lead life styles that most of us can only dream of? Are we so lazy that we can't entertain ourselves without turning to some bazillionaire movie star, entertainer or sports figure. And exactly what special skills do these "celebrities" have?? A basketball player throws a ball thru a hoop. A baseball player hits a ball with a stick. A movie star memorizes his lines and acts as if he was a real person.

Fuck 'em, just fuck 'em.

I'm a capitalist, so I'm not against anyone making an honest buck.

If people are stupid enough to have celebrity worship, then they're stupid enough.

The British Royals are one of their largest money-makers in the tourist industry. Why? Americans love royalty. We even made our own by making movie stars and the Kennedys.

I don't buy celebrity oriented material, I'm not part of the problem.

I'm much more attracted to the coffee shop man. He's been delightful on the eyes for over a year now. :)
You simply had to mention him, didn't you? Drool...

I would have to say yes. I need celebrities in my life. If not for celebrities I would have nothing to talk about with the fellas at work. If not for celebrities how would I know who is and isnt attractive. Imagine asking out a girl that doesnt look like a celebrity. Without celebrities the guy who started this thread would have nothing to talk about.

AmishPope, you have to have one of the oddest names yet for an erotic bulletin board.

Aren't you married, Misch?
Lavender was joking. The guy is drop dead gorgeous, but there was absolutely zero interaction or attempts at interaction. He's just fun to look at.

As always, to each their own opinion no matter how "stereotypical" and "generalistic" they are--like the one above.

How many celeb's are you close to? Or rather how many celeb's have ever "snubbed" you? Or have you received all your info from the various magazines you just panned?

I do agree with some of your points in the second paragraph. Spending time with one's family or self improvement is admirable.

You question what "special skills" athletes have? A bit silly isn't that? To have a "talent" that less than .1% of the population possesses is truly a TALENT.

I do feel sorry, that no "actor's" performance has ever been delivered well enough to you to react and "feel." However, again to each their own. Personally, I love to react to a film and the performance of those that bring it to life: actors.

Celebrities, CAN and do React in the same way as nuclear physicists or the greeter at your neighborhood WAL MART.

Jealousy can be such a damaging emotion...........can't it?

I have to agree with you AP. I mean, what a barren life without having so many vacuos people to discuss. And where else can you find articles about "What to do About Your Thighs."

My world would collapse.
