I know we have little influence on what day a new story will be posted, but since many readers scroll but through the 'new' section I guess the publishing day has some influence on the vote count.

What are your experiences? Does a story posted on a, say, tuesday gets less reads (votes) then one posted on friday with weekend looming?

Avoid a Sunday posting like it's a disheveled guy walking down the street carrying a carving knife and talking to himself in curses.

Never pay much attention to the starting day of a story on Lit, except for contests. Youc can pretty much pick your day then. Any other time it could post in 3 to seven days after submitting.

A thursday, friday posting is usually pretty good. The two days that follow the posting will determine the amount of reads. One factor to consider also is that the more stories out on a given day, The less chance of getting read.

The numbers have been collated. Take a look at this really good report by Owlwhisper and scroll down until you get to the pink bar graph titled: "Average Vote by Day of Week."

Literotica Numbers 02

Be sure to remember to give Owlwhisper a 5-star vote for all his hard work and for writing it up so clearly. He deserves a 6-star. :rose:

I gear mine to post on Thursday. I have a couple of zappers who show up at 10 am (local) on that day, and I wouldn't want to inconvenience them.

<blushes> Thanks, driphoney :rose:

So far as I could tell, posting on a specific day of the week (or even day of the month, or holiday) doesn't make much difference in the values of the votes cast. Posting day affects the numbers of views and votes, but I couldn't measure that. My advice is to submit your story as soon as it's ready and then get to work on your next one.

Owlwhisper, your stats were a great piece of work. The comment often made about stats applies here. We know Lit groups story cats together to release a group on the same day, so how can you weight your data between say, non-erotic and incest - to use extremes.

There's empirical evidence to suggest that being posted on Saturday or on a Holiday is detrimental to 'reads', which are often a new writer's way to gain notoriety.

I submit Word files because I am lazy, and if I submit at close of business Wednesday, the story gets posted in the middle of the following week - with contests it is next day at latest.

Publishing date matters, even in the top circles. Just watch the jostling for Barnes & Noble window space in the run-up to Xmas.
