I have heard about irc chat or mirc. What i need to know how do you get on it or is it a site.

It's a chat program, most chats are actually based on it. You can get it at www.mirc.com

mIRC is a program you d/load and install.
then you need to find a server you want to go on.

there are quite of few of them.
then after you get onto the server you join a channel all channels start with # you will find me on any gamesnet server.

lit has a channel too on IRC I belive under EFNet servers. #literotica or you can get there in ********** useing the chat link on the main page.

IRC = Internet Relay Chat

MIRC = a program to connect to IRC

There are hundreds of different servers in the world and I have no idea how many sub-networks like Undernet, Overnet, Effnet, etc. There are literally thousands of different chat "rooms" (can't remember what they are called) in each network at any given time. It was THE thing on the Internet 6 or 7 years ago.

If you haven't seen it, you aren't missing much.

and IRC is still as big as it use to be

there are other programs to use instead of mIRC too
there is pIRCh AoD and if you use macs IRCL

The last time I looked at IRC there were 134,967 channels
called ###myteninchcock or ##blowjobs. I thought it was dying a fast death.

there is a game called Deus Ex but they aren't aloud to have a channl cause it would end up being called #deusex lol.... I have a clan and i'm not aloud to make a channel for it eather cause our name is Nipple hahah yes I'm the founder.

so it's a secure world now.

IRC chat is Evil, at least to me it was.

I only tried it for about a week, but apparently the more experienced folks can give you a pretty hard time if they want to.
I ended up somehow posting my password, losing my nick/profiles/whatever else? But maybe I was just to naive.

I would also get about ten Personal messages every twenty minutes, usually to some sex sight (gasp! )

I didn't find anything worth while in it. I prefer a more user friendly chat medium.

But that is just what I got from it. User's experiences may vary I suppose.

I'm not sure if it is evil, but it sure sounds like a nightmare to get to and use.

The only chat type thing I've been successful with is ICQ and I think I'm using a version of the software that is almost 2 years old. I'm not changing, either. People with newer versions seem to have more problems.

Heh, the most I ever saw in a channel at one time was about 100. It was a mp3 trading post. The least amount of people I saw in a channel was - 1.

I put a key on my channel. I served Manga on my fserv there to my online and real life friends. Yeah, they called me the psycho pervert!

Nope, wouldn't be anything for me. More than one person on ICQ at a time gets tough enough. Talking to 20-40 would drive me crazy. There's a reason I'm on the bb and not in chat at Lit. That would be it!

I would think most the people go to irc to get warez not chat. Although some do go there to chat but usually they chat whilst they are waiting in the queue line for the warez.
