What is a caucasian?

How can you tell if you're talking to one or if it's some other flavor of individual that just looks like a caucasian?

Does caucasianinity make a big difference, do you think? Or is just another box to check on the census when you're checking all of the boxes in the same group because you don't want those government bastards to know any more about you than they already do?

The outdated scientific explanation (no longer in use) defined Caucasian as "a major human racial classification traditionally distinguished by physical characteristics such as very light to brown skin pigmentation and straight to wavy or curly hair, and including peoples indigenous to Europe, northern Africa, western Asia, and India."

The more modern definition (which I commonly use) would be "of or relating to a group of three language families spoken in the region of the Caucasus mountains, including Chechen, Abkhaz, and the Kartvelian languages."

As Wiggles said, the generic, uninformed definition lumps all those of European descent into the Caucasian category. My mother is Scandinavian, and refuses to check Caucasian on those little forms.

How about changing it to American? I too, am of mixed lineage. I really can't check anyone of the current boxes. Better yet, let's scrap it all as discriminatory.

American? So, like From Tierra Del Fuego on north, the entire so-called western hemisphere? Holy crapweasel, even the Canadians don't usually want to be lumped in as one group with U.S. cits, but the Bolivians, Mexicans... I mean, what would INS do if the only definition was American? There'd be no more illegal aliens... how practical is that?

Next thing somebody's going to say "How about changing it to human?" I suppose.

This is an easy one. CAUCASIAN : It's those hot and spicy dishes servered in New Orleans and surrounding areas. I'm not stupid thought your were going to get me with that one didn't ya!
