What I Like....(Photo critique/rant)

So, I'm having this conversation with one of my favourite posters here...and we're chatting about what I like about his photos. What things catch my interest, and keep me coming back for more like a junkie lost in the throes of her ecstasy. So, prepare for a dissertation on why I personally, Mae* (*names changed to protect the innocent, lol!), look at the pictures I do, and enjoy the pictures I do.

I know, I know, this is a porn site/board/place/whatever. I know that there's lots of great gratuitous T&A. I want this to be clear, I admire each and every one of you who will toss yourselves before the wolves in a forum like this. Each body part has it's own attraction. It seems there are some people that are hesitant to post pictures of themselves because they are afraid how they'll "measure up". This pertains to sexual organs, of course, but it also pertains to dress size, age, height, proclivities, etc. Maybe, just maybe...after reading this some people will pick up those cameras and share themselves with us, in whatever ways they feel comfortable!

Perhaps I'm a bit unlike your average bear, because of my absolute LOVE of diversity. I can look at all sorts of people and think "Man, that person is SEXY!". Thin people, average people, large people (or BBW, I am crappy with PC phrasing, sorry) tall/short/blonde/brunette/redhead/smooth/hairy/black/white/red/.... get my point? Usually, when I get that little *twinge* looking at someone, it has a HELL of a lot to do with the artistry and presentation, and not nearly as much to do with nitpicky details as those above mentioned.

I personally don't spend much time looking at the shots of those who only do close-up genitalia pictures. It's just not my bag. I may love them to death, and love reading their posts, and adore bantering with them back and forth...I just skip past the pictures. I think we all do close-ups of certain body parts at times, depending on the inspiration, or what we're responding to. I'm referring to the folks that *only* post them. I'm not dissing anyone here, I don't think it's because they're ugly, or offensive, or anything like that! It just doesn't tickle my fancy! But, I am sure there are lots of people who everyone here DOES tickle!

So, onto the things that just get me goin like a choirgirl on Sundays....

1. I LOVE variety! Already covered that, don't need to again.
2. I LOVE people experimenting! Angles, lighting, shadows, filters, photo editing programs, etc. Ya'll already know about my fascination with B&W, that goes for other people's work too! I know this particular issue is effected a lot by the equipment you have (CAMERA equipment guys, camera equipment, lol!).
3. I LOVE noticing things that people aren't trying to highlight. Lips, eyes and jawline are 3 big ones for me. Often, it's the first thing I notice, then I take in the rest of the details. Sometimes, I comment on these things. But sometimes...appreciative comments can be brushed past, when folks are obsessed with that whole aforementioned 'measuring up' thing.
4. I LOVE themes! Use creativity! Write a little prose to go with your shots. Witty comments. Or, use photographs to tell a story, or tell a story, then shoot photos to compliment it! Each way gives very different results!
5. Don't be afraid. I know, it's a scary thing to hang yourself out to dry in front of a bunch of strangers! People here are SO nice overall. I rarely read negative comments to ANYONE in this section, we seem to avoid the flamewars pretty well. I like that. However, just because you don't have a hundred people instantly posting "Oh d00d, you are SO hot!" doesn't mean people aren't appreciating the hell out of you! Some folks are lurkers, some are quiet appreciators. Sometimes, people just look, savor, and don't have the energy to say much. I know I've been guilty of it before. I try to spread my love around, and let folks know their time and efforts are appreciated! Lol, please don't read into that comment more than the way I meant it *snicker*
6. Ya don't have to be nekkid! There are a LOT of sexy men and women here! Many of them we've never seen presented without cloth covering all their 'private viewing' areas! Sexy isn't just skin, it isn't just clothes....sexy is YOU!
7. More 'full body' photos. We have some awesome threads that are devoted to showcasing certain parts (breasts, eyes, backs, asses, etc!). I love these threads! I also love the shots that show more than this! It also gives you a LOT more to work with in regards to Love #2 up there! And don't worry, we understand if you have to chop your head off in the picture, or black it out. We really do!

My personal 'favorites' here are folks that encompass all of the above things. I'd love to see people post more than *just* T&A stuff. I think maybe some folks are afraid to, because they don't think it's appreciated. I just want to say, in no uncertain terms, that IT IS! PLEASE do more!! hehehe. I am not above shameless grovelling for what I want....

Hopefully, people will take this endless ramble in the way I intended it, as encouragement about what is exciting, and sexy, and a turn on, to encourage more diversity! Maybe, if others chime in with the "other than basic" things that they like, more folks will realize they can post anything, and they'll find some of us who go ga-ga for it! I'd love it if I never saw something like "I wanted to post pictures of myself, but after seeing the 'competition' here, I know I don't measure up!" written again. Please...please post yourself! I guarantee you'll make someone's day. Maybe a LOT of someones' day!

Really like what you have to say, Mae. And sets me thinking. I wonder...

One's never going to get everything one likes from one posting person, not least because some of the things I like don't go with others, but:

What I like most about this sight is the quality of people it attracts, and I don't just mean looks. Of course there are some who are dull or crass, but a lot of them come over as real, likeable, funny, affectionate etc and I enjoy reading the posts as well as looking at the pics.

And I like the courage and fun of the women who show themselves. Not so much the more professional-looking ones as the pleasant lively gals. And then there's something really appealing about the ones who are not conventional great lookers but whose bods often have a less obvious loveliness of their own.

It spoils it all when the quaity of the photos is too low, or the size too small.

I do like some of the pics to be explicit as they are the ones that turn me on. I'm disappointed when a girl never shows her anus - I'm not particularly preoccupied with such in RW, but I suppose they feel like the ultimate intimacy.

Odd personal tastes which matter enough to me to mention - I don't like shaved (makes it all too bland) or toys.

That's about it. Be interested to hear what others go for - what we most of us have in common and what we don't

Mae, You know how much I admire your body and your work. I always look at your posts and get so much from them. Such a talent you have. My camera is crappy, but I did recently post some pics of at the personals on the bbw thread...no, not full body, as I have to feel good enough to do it...which I hope it is soon. But, like you, I dont wanna post just T&A....I want the art behind it. You are a bigger inspiration that you may ever realize. Although my camera, lighting etc was pretty icky....I really DO like how the pics turned out. I am actually anticipating doing more soon....hubby wants to help. Thanks for your insights.... I really admire your work and savants. Cant wait for more!

I agree with your comments and ideas Mae. A "closeup" doesn't bring out the "real" person. Quality over quantity.

I've never been much for extreme gynecological close-ups... I mean, there ARE beautiful looking pussies posted on here, but I'd much rather see a lady's horizontal smile than her vertical one (ugh - did I really just say that? LOL)

I'm like mae,
I like variety. I like all races, colors and creeds. I like blonds, brunettes, and redheads. I like thin, tall, short, fat and everything in between.

But i do have some favorites.

1. Latino and spanish women
2. I like butts. big butts. If butts had a size like bras, then i would like c and d's. B's are ok but i like a little size on them.
3. I also like curvy hips. Show me a pic with curvy hips and i'll melt. Along with that i also like curves on othe parts of the body. I'm not a tit man per se, but i do like the curve it creates.

given those 3 things can you guess who my favorite singer/actress is?

Things i dislike in pics.
1. extreme close ups of genitals. I'll skip right over them.
2. gross fetishes. animals and bathroom stuff i skip over.
3. any violent.

I think maybe some folks are afraid to, because they don't think it's appreciated. I just want to say, in no uncertain terms, that IT IS! PLEASE do more!! hehehe. I am not above shameless grovelling for what I want....

For what it's worth, we've found that on the odd occasions we posted stuff that would be more appropriate in a medical journal, the response has been way higher than when we posted more "arty" stuff.

The people who appreciate and respond to something that isn't purely gynaecological type porn are in the minority. Having said that, it's not stopping us posting what we want, because the comments and feedback we get from the people who do enjoy it is fantastic. It may not be quantity, but it certainly is quality!

May we add our thanks to all the people who post here, and to those who take the time and trouble to encourage posters. All your efforts are appreciated by lechers like us everywhere.

Hmm...a rant...oh joy of joys... I haven't hada good rant in qiute some time. Let's see what I can come up with.

I agree on all the points Mae mentioned. There are those around here that post "artsy"pics with regularity, or who have just done one I really liked in the past. I'll hit any of their threads that I come across. I guess I'm just more of a cerebral fellow. Mae, 1Hotjob, and the Kiwis, just to name a few. It seems to me that what people do with these types of pictures is express something. The ones that convey the most meaing are the ones that really catch my eye. Which kinda tosses close-ups of most everything out the window, given that it's hard to convey much with nothing but a nipple on the screen.

A lot of what is conveyed comes across in the attitude or feeling that one projects. In the same way that people in reality tend to be attractive to me, based more on that than a nice rack. I mean lets face it folks, there's been a thousand times that I've seen an exceptionally shaped lady, that did absolutley nothing for me. Posture, attitude, movement, expression... the impression of some sort of intent behind movements. I don't see a great pair of legs, I see hte set of the hips, the sway of movement, and the projected confidence...the implied actions, or needs. Even quiet, or shy people project on that level. Hell, I'm no social dynamo, that's for bloody sure!

On a slight angle to the topic at hand is the feedback coming from folks on here. There really are quitea few great folks on here, and very few pictures or posts slip by without some thoughtful response. One thing we don't see much is the discussion of the actual photos themselves. How did you get that shot? Why not this angle instead? Light sources? Constructive conversations behind the how, as much as the what of the pictures we post. There are enough people here that are very skilled with their gear, that really could help out the rest of us. Even the less proficient of us might have some instinct, or feel for a pic that might allow the creator to improve their next set. Personally, I'd really like to see more responses along those lines, mixed in with our standard, "Holly shit, she's HOT!!!"

But that's just my opinion, take it or leave it, as you like.

Sav, interesting idea. I don't ever think much about talking about how I shoot what I shoot, or some of the physical wrangling I have to do to get some of the solo shots I do, lol! I would love to hear suggestions and sharing at this level too, please consider all my posts an open invite to constructive criticism! I have thick skin, I can take it!

Mae! I will cherish your compliment! Everything about you I admire. I wanna be like Mae when I grow up too If I had better equipment, camera AND body...lol....I would probably come play here...that thread was specifically for BBW and I knew I would be accepted quicker over there. And I am just blown away by the wonderful compliments given to ordinary me! I cant tell you how good the response has made me feel...and it has me wanting to do more pics.....but I find myself wanting to do the type of pics you do...and I simply cant without a decent camera. And Im kinda not sure I am ready to show my whole big self....only time!

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and here's mine. I like the pictures, regardless of the body part or parts. What I really like is that these are real people, not models. There is something different about having real people post as opposed to models. I can't describe the difference. I am not as gifted with words as Mae and the rest of you. But the difference is appreciated by me and makes the pictures that much better for me. The comments are interesting in the different ways women reply to threads as opposed to men. Women seem to say it better.
