why don't we have a thread like this at the AH? come here to share with us which movies youve been watching at the cinema or DVD's at home or even old movies. Or tv shows. which shows have you gone to see at the theatre? what are you reading? which cd's have you been listening to.

tell us about it and most importantly what do you think about it? :)

i watched dirty dancin again last night.

brought back memories. jennifer grey is a cutie :)

I just realised how little I rely on the box in the corner these days. Hubby and the teen queen are currently glued to the idiot box watching House. Admittedly at this hour yesterday and the day before I was glued too. But I religiously watch TV two hours a week - Supernatural and NCIS. The rest of the time I couldn't care less if the transmission towers were hit by lightning.

Saw Red Eye finally. I was surprised that it was such a good movie, I wasn't expecting much. I've been listening to a lot of different music because I work 3rd shift by myself (my IPOD rocks!). Nothing specific to mention, but I'm very glad for the timing of the technology (the radio wouldn't function where I work, so it's my only option...other than being completely bored).

Books:

Reading: Villages by John Updike.

Just finished: Pride & Prejudice (honest)

Listening: The Best of Tracy Nelson/Mother Earth

Watching/Watched

TV: Imus in the Morning, Newshour With Jim Lehrer, Countdown With Keith Olberman

Movie: Ray (DVD), The Maltese Falcon (on TCM)

Rumple Foreskin

American Idol and House on TV's Fox.

Just watched "The Departed" (Leo Dicaprio, Jack Nicholson, Matt Damon, Mark Wahlberg) on DVD. It was nominated for 4 Oscars and I can see why. It is a very well made movie by Scorcese.

Reading J.D. Robb's latest installment in the Eve Dallas series.

Music - I'm flexible here, kids keep their music loud so I hear it. Just no country and western here for me, please.

I've been working so much that I haven't seen even one of the new tv shows in the last two seasons. Still love the Simpsons, though. Can't wait to see a new episode... one of these days.

The last movie I saw was Ghost Rider. I liked it. The kids I took LOVED it. A guy with a flaming skull kicking bad guys asses on a flaming motorcycle... what's not to love?

I just read a paperback from a thrift store that surprised me. The Straw Men by Michael Marshall. The way he writes is exactly the way I like to write... but he's better at it. Some of his lines crackle audibly in the air when you read them.

way ta go peeps!!! keep the info coming and don't forget ta come back when youre watching something new! :nana: :cathappy:

TV.......No cable/dish since last Nov., so I missed most everything

Movies........I can't remember the last time I went out to one.....((they tend to bore Me too quickly))

Books..........Just finished series from James Patterson as well as Tess Gerritsen...all suspense/murder/mysteries......and started one by Sandra Brown called "Charade"

Music.......Korn Unplugged featuring Amy Lee is the CD in......but I enjoy Blues as well as Rock and at times even 50's & 60's music

MICHAEL MCDERMMOT

Go here and have your speakers/headphones in place to hear the music.

Hubby picked up a cd for a penny a few weeks ago, gave it to me as a gift. I love it, planning on ordering his Ashes album next. Why?

DANCE WITH ME
Tell me, tell me true
Do you speak with the spirits, the way I do?
Do you dance their dance, with their hands on you?
Do you sleep at night?

Coming down from above
I heard the trumpet speaking of love
But there's no peace here, any peace to speak of
Will you dance with me?

What difference does it make?
You can walk the line or make a mistake
Forgive me now, I got something to shake
Do you see that monkey here?

So dance with me, take my hand
I've become a person I don't understand
With you I can finally find a place to land
If you dance with me

Fear not, I fear you no more
You can dress in black, or crawl on the floor
You can touch me now, or wait by the door
You'll always have your chance

I'll write the song of my life
I'll cast it in the air, as sharp as a knife
I'll puncture it, and feed it some light
We can call it death

This room, sweats of your name
You know it too, cause we love the pain
Blinded by, the colors of rain
Haunting me

So dance with me just one time
I'll do anything if you can name the crime
I'll accept everything, I'll be fine
If you dance with me

Who cares and what if they do?
It's no one's life, it's yours and it's you
Will you kill me if I asked you to?
Do you know me yet?

Free me, free me from this
It hurts like hell, but they tell me it's bliss
I'd sell my soul, my love for one kiss
Would you offer it to me?

Candle burning it's still
Up there in your window sill
High upon the loneliest hill
Is that light for me?

So dance with me a silent dance
With you to my breast
I could stand a chance
Beyond the perimeters of circumstance
Will you walk with me?

Talk with me
Lend me your smile
I've been twisting and turning awhile
Been one long lonely mile after mile
Will you dance with me?

C'mon dance with me, take my hand
I've become a person I don't understand
With you I can finally find a place to land
Will you dance with me?

C'mon dance with me
C'mon dance with me
C'mon dance with me
Dance with me

DVD's: The Illusionist, Angel The Series: Season 5, Flyboys, The Departed.

Music: The Kooks, Muse, Paul Schwartz...I listen to everything. :)

TV: American Idol , Supernatural, House, Bones, CSI, Dance Life and Dr. Who.

Books: I have the newest JD Robb, but I haven't managed to start reading yet.

TV Shows= no cable, no reception, so all on DVD. The Pretender and The Incredible Hulk.

Music= Buying new Sevendust today. Been stuck on Bullet for my Valentine.

Movies= last one I watched was Blood and Chocolate. It was pretty decent, but not mind blowing.

Am I allowed to put video games in here?

Medal of Honor: European Assault is absolutely wicked. You get to fight in France, North Africa and Russia. All the characters have different voices and accents, and it has super-cool war movie music playing all the way through it

You also get real black and white film footage in between levels, with voice-overs by veterans who fought there.

I'm hooked! Feel totally wired after playing it, but that's half the fun.

This week...

Books:

Turning Angel, by Greg Iles - murder mystery (he's fast becoming one of my favorite authors)
The Divide, by Nicholas Evans - guy who wrote The Horse Whisperer. This one blows by that one, as far as I'm concerned. Looks like he's really growing as an author.
The Descent, by Jeff Long. This one and his The Reckoning are both books that I come back to and reread every six months or so. Eventually I'll have to buy the hardbacks because my paperbacks are about to fall apart.
Lifeguard, by James Patterson - it was so-so, if someone loans it to you, read it, but don't waste your money to buy it. Kept me entertained for an afternoon, so I guess that's something.

Movies:

I watched the original Star Wars flick so many times over the past weekend that I think I probably know the dialogue as well as I know that from Quest for the Holy Grail. It kept five little boys entertained. Well worth the $20 to buy it. We watched Revenge of the Sith a couple of times, too, but I think it was a little too dark for the younger ones.

Crash - worth it, for sure
National Treasure - a fun flick, kids liked it
Gladiator - a favorite
The DaVinci Code - haven't watched it yet, but picked up a used copy yesterday, so looking forward to some pure escapism.

TV:

It's Barbarians week on the History Channel, and I'm diggin' it. Watched a couple of hours last night about Genghis Khan and Tamerlane. Cool stuff.

Since I saw a thread about Captain America the other day..

Reading: Ultimate Spider-man, Daredevil, The Incredible Hulk, and The Darkness

TV= Umm...still watching The Pretender. :)

Ok, I saw a new show on G4 called "Free $tuff" today. I didn't win anything, but I tried.

As for right now, I'm watching Double Dare 2000.

Right now I'm playing Final Fantasy XII. I am so in love with this game

Listening to a lot of orchetral and piano versions of Final Fantasy music. Don't knock it until you've tried it.

The last movie I saw was Forget Paris on DVD. Thought I was gonna say Transformers the movie didn't you. ;)

As for the theater, I think it was Superman Returns.

I miss Fem, Vana, and Zade.

I'm reading a new Heinlein novel.

No, really. I share this because whenever "Heinlein" is mentioned here fans (and some who love to hate him) come out of the woodwork.

Variable Star by Robert A. Heinlein and Spider Robinson
From Booklist:
A mere glimpse at the legendary byline and Heinleinesque astronomical title may make at least older sf fans salivate. Alas, the source material is neither a lost or unfinished masterpiece but only a fifties-era outline made whole by journeyman sf scribe Robinson. No slouch at space opera himself, Robinson weaves Heinlein's guidelines into a serviceably entertaining tale of a young space explorer colonizing a new world. After discovering his fiancee and supposed fellow orphan is really a wealthy mogul's granddaughter, struggling musician Joel Johnston gets cold feet and grabs the next outbound starship. With his formative agricultural training on Ganymede, Joel has skills that come in handy tending goats and crops in preparation for landfall on Brasil Novo. Yet his vow to abandon love in favor of farming meets some surprising--and romantically intriguing--challenges. The trademark Heinlein quips, space-travel motifs, and obligatory schmaltzy romance are all here in a faithful, if technologically updated, pastiche of the late master's style and storytelling genius.

Reading for school When Religion Becomes Evil by Charles Kimball.

Movies- last night I watched Invicible. It was a feel good movie and I loved all the 70s music. This weekend I'll be watching Fast Food Nation and Stranger than Fiction.

Tv- We watched this week's Lost last night. I really got an appreciation for our HDtv with that show! I'm hoping to catch up on Survivor and Amazing Race over the weekend (I dvr them). Super sad about the Heroes break till the end of April.

Right now? Watching Dogfights on Discovery Channel. Been watching a lot of Discovery Channel and History Channel lately.

Movies? Not too much lately, although we did watch "Flushed Away"

Reading? Several different books have been finished lately. Included in them are a book about the training of Navy U.D.T. Swimmers in Ft. Pierce Florida.

TV:
I just watched 1 versus 100 (fun show, though they slow down the questions too much) and then Las Vegas (three or four cliffhangers in one season finale is a bit ridiculous).

DVD:
Watched a kung fu movie last night. I didn't realize when I bought it that I owned the same movie with a different title. Well, at least this copy has the original language track, and audio commentary.

Read:
I don't, unless it's porn stories and forums. I read more of each than I can count.

Just came back from seeing 300 with the kids. Great fun, but that's about it. Don't look for socially relavant or any such thing. Just a video comic book, but for that genre, very well done. So if beasts, spears, sword play and regular beheading are your thing, go see it, by all means.
