Considering some bird and dinosaur eggs are large that sounds reasonable.
I'm still trying to figure out how our forefathers and mothers knew what toadstools and other plants were safe to eat.
I suppose they watched and calculated what percentage died or got very sick. Mikey will eat anything.

Oranges were called oranges before the colour was invented. The colour was named after the orange fruit.

Carrots originally came from Afghanistan and in those days they were purple. A plant breeder got hold of them - probably an Orangeman from the Netherlands (or possibly Northern Ireland) and made them Orange.

Robin Red breasts are called red even though they are actually orange because some slacker hadn't decided that their red was actually orange when they first flew in.

Orange came from Tamil & hindi and Persian. The meaning is bitter (for the skin). I'm not certain of it though there are many theories. Naranja is the Hindi name.

The dutch farmer made a breed of carrots higher in beta carotene, which made it orange.

All orange roots are high in beta carotene. like butternut squash and sweet potato.
