What happens when you report a message?

So, I'm just curious. If you use the feature to report a post, what exactly happens? I have a certain someone on ignore already, but her posts keep showing up anyway. And they make me sick to my stomach. So I reported it.

Will anything happen?

By the way, I'm all about freedom of speech and whatnot, but this person's posts are more than offensive. 'Nuff said.

If you have anyone on 'ignore', the fact that they have posted will still register, but the content of their posts will not show.

I suggest you check your 'ignore' list to make sure the person's id is entered correctly.

I have around 10 on my list, and I don't see any of their posts unless I want to.

Mat

Thanks Matriarch.
I have double checked it. And added it several times. But the posts are still there, in all of their revolting glory. I was quite shocked by one today and nearly had to leave. It's most disagreeable.

I have no idea what is happening then. It must be something to do with your set up. You;ll need to check with some of the cyber geeks here or send a pm directly to Laurel or Manu and ask them.

So, the question is "what happens when you report a message." I've finally figured out that there is something wrong with my ignore feature, but I'm just wondering if anything will happen to the other poster or her posts.

Thanks again Matriarch. :rose:
Nice cleavage, by the way...

Let me say that I could be totally wrong here, but if you report a post that breaks the rules of lit, then that poster could lose his/her account. However, if they're just being, rude, crude, insensitive, gross or hurtful, I'm not sure if anything will happen - this IS an adult site and quite a bit of intemperate behavior is tolerated. Best figure out the problem with your ignore feature right quick.

I thought I read somewhere that scat was against the rules. Am I wrong? I know snuff is, and minors. Anything else?

Can't say I know the rule book by heart, but with the number of posts here, it might take a while before the referees finish reviewing the replay. That's got to be an overwhelming task. Just from experience with spammers posting threads with links to commercial sites, it sometimes takes more than 24 hours before they're toast.

There may be a confusion of terms here:

To report a post is different from putting someone on Ignore.

If someone is posting spam with an url to a site, this is against the rules, here. If sombody presses the Report This Message I presume Manu or Laurel checks it out, and if they agree, deletes the post.

We had some virgin posting a spam pyramid scheme over and over, a few days back. Either someone reported it, or they noticed it without a report, because I believe it has disappeared. (I may be wrong. I haven't looked for it.)

To Ignore someone, is to enter their Nom in the Ignore List in your Control Panel. Then you never see any thread they begin, and only a closed caption where they post on a thread begun by someone else.

I thought that was what you were talking about.
I think everyone else has just used the ignore button. I don't know what else has happened.

But if you want this stuff clarified, I would seriously suggest you send a pm to Manu or Laurel.

Thank you. *blush*

Thanks VirtualBurlesque and LilElvis and Matriarch.

To be clear...
There were posts with *****ded pictures of vomit and shit. I put the poster on ignore (three different times now) and the posts still showed up. Not just a notation, but the post with the picture in it. When my ignore feature didn't work, over and over, I reported one of the messages. I know this is a grown up board. I like porn. That's why I'm here. One of my first political statements was to protest a book burning when I was 10 years old. Freedom of speech and of the press and the media is very important to me.

Hope that clears it up. Thanks again everyone.
And Mat, you're lovely when you blush.
How YOU Doin'?

Hi Sassy,

Your ignore feature might not be working properly, but when someone quotes the person you're ignoring (pictures and all) then you will be able to see the original, ignored post as a quote in the new post. This might be part of the problem. Or not. ;)

Luck to you,

Yui

Yeah, I think it's not working properly cause I'm seeing it in her posts, not quotes. Thanks for the clarification.
Bi the way, about this Yui Pink Picture? I seem to miss all the best stuff.

I'm doing fine thank you.
And you have now chalked up over 100 posts. Time for you to choose an AV.
(Avatar, the picture that now goes with your name.)

I'm trying to find something suitable as we speak. Something... Sassy!

Apparently the rule about under-age sex applies only to stories; many threads on here which talk about that restriction point out that various posters had sex before Lit would allow the story to be posted.

Snuff is now catered for in Erotic Horror, and previously was in the Extreme category.

With the upgrade to vBulletin 3.0, putting someone on Ignore became a two step process.

Click on It's name and select add **** to your ignore list.

When the next page comes up, click on "submit" to verify that you want the person added to your ignore list.

You might want to go to https://forum.literotica.com/profile.php?do=editlist and confirm that It is on your ignore list.

One other point, your ignore list only works when you're logged in. If you're not staying logged in as you browse the forums, your ignore list is useless. I never log out, but IIRC, you need to check "remember me" when you log in to stay logged in all the time in this version.

I've had the same problem as Sassy with my ignore list. Do you have to recreate your ignore list each time you log out and in again? Thanks for your help with this!
