what happened to some votes?

I recently submitted a new story and I've been watching to see how the voting goes with it. At times I have checked and there would be one number of votes cast and then I've come back another time and found the number of votes has decreased. How is that possible? How can I lose votes? Can someone remove a vote once it's been made? I can't seem to find anywhere on Lit. that answers my question. Can someone help me out?

I'd also love for you to comment on my stories. Like some others, I've not gotten any comments on the story site itself. I just hope to find that the stories are enjoyed.

Thanks for any help you can provide!!

Laurel occasionally does vote sweeps.

Sometimes folks will vote twice, either on accident, because they're a huge fan and want to help you out, or they're malicious, and keep clicking that 1 vote. Whatever the case may be, the extra vote is "swept" or removed.

Thanks cloudy

Thanks. That explains what might have happened. Now if people will just not do that to me!! hehe

No public comments

I am glad that you have commented on the lack of public comments. I have written two stories and also various poems and I have only had one comment on my stories. Seeing that I had 18 votes for one and 10 for the other, you would think people would leave a comment,as they obviously liked it,or wouldnt vote for it.Hope things change for the both of us.Good luck

The best way to get comments is to give them - good old-fashioned networking.

Sorta unfair to expect to get them if we don't give, yes?

Even with a good network don't expect more than .6 comments per 100 views.... it just works that way... some catagories are better than others for comments... usually the bad kind though... Trolls are so much fun......

I comment on just about every story I read (only got an account this week though, so most of my comments have been anonymous). The method I use to pick stories means I generally only read ones that already have comments though, since I tend to pick an author from the top voted stories listing then read all their work, bookmark their submissions page to check for new stuff sporadically then go back to the top voted listings...
