What happened to Excite Chat??

I have been without my own computer for about 6 months. Now I find out that Excite Virtual Places chat is gone. I loved all the bells and whistles you could do with VP chat.I downloaded the cheaper trimmer Excite chat that was offered and no one saw or spoke to me in the chat room. What's the deal with Excite Chat? I heard they offer a pay chat now. Hey.. I'm not going to pay for what I can get for free. Excite died, went belly up, went to the big internet in the sky, kicked the reboot.....

Sold their high speed stuff to AT&T, Comcast, RoadRunner and some others, the rest I think just died!
