What happened to Democrat concern about illegitimacy?

So, now apparently its forbidden to discuss the illegitimacy rate and ways we can reduce it for the benefit of children. Anyone who raises the issue is to be visciously belittled and besmirched through the usual means of incessant media attack and repetitious ridicule by the liberal and libertarian noise machines. Silence those who discuss the issue at all I guess.

The question is, just a few years ago, Democrats were also concerned about the illegitimacy rate. It was one of the issues the New Democrats in the 90s were trying to address, and go back a little farther than that and Daniel Moynihan was an early voice talking about the problem as early as the 1960s. So, what the hell is going on here? An attempt to make cheap political points, more of their knee jerk hatred for political opponents, or a true decision that illegitimacy is no longer a problem for kids or society?

What do you think, is it really good for what is it up to now, I think over 40% of all children born to a mother out of wedlock?

We hear alot about the growing income disparity in the country. Well one of the biggest statistical factors influencing the economic future of a child's life is whether he or she grows up in a two parent home. The married two parent home statistically increases the positive economic future for the child even further.

Sure, these rich (and foreign) Hollywood celebrities can hire all the nannys they want and the children won't want for anything materially, but for the average lower and lower middle class Americans, statistics do clearly show a correlation between having a married two parent home and a broken or never was two parent home.

So, why is there really a controversy over somebody raising the issues. Both parties until recently were concerned, if perhaps approaching it from different directions. Now, I guess neither is supposed to care?

KING LEAR
ACT I, SCENE II. The Earl of Gloucester's castle.

Enter EDMUND, with a letter

EDMUND

Thou, nature, art my goddess; to thy law
My services are bound. Wherefore should I
Stand in the plague of custom, and permit
The curiosity of nations to deprive me,
For that I am some twelve or fourteen moon-shines
Lag of a brother? Why bastard? wherefore base?
When my dimensions are as well compact,
My mind as generous, and my shape as true,
As honest madam's issue? Why brand they us
With base? with baseness? bastardy? base, base?
Who, in the lusty stealth of nature, take
More composition and fierce quality
Than doth, within a dull, stale, tired bed,
Go to the creating a whole tribe of fops,
Got 'tween asleep and wake? Well, then,
Legitimate Edgar, I must have your land:
Our father's love is to the bastard Edmund
As to the legitimate: fine word,--legitimate!
Well, my legitimate, if this letter speed,
And my invention thrive, Edmund the base
Shall top the legitimate. I grow; I prosper:
Now, gods, stand up for bastards!

Put birth control in the water supply and apply for a license to have children - that is what should be done.
