Obama’s Ratings Dive
By Dick Morris on July 24, 2012

His personal favorability, once a strong point for Obama, has vanished and is now being replaced by a personal dislike that is dragging him down.
These data, buried deep in the latest NY Times/CBS poll (of registered voters, not likely voters) are both stark and important. In April, Obama had a 42-45 favorable/unfavorable rating, itself a shock given his vastly higher favorable ratings only a few months before. Now, he has a favorable rating of only 36% and an unfavorable rating of 48%.

The NY Times poll showed Romney getting 47% of the vote compared to 46% for Obama (again, this poll is of registered voters, likely voter polls are more pro-Romney). So that means that one-quarter of Obama’s voters do not give him a favorable rating – a danger sign for the president.
What is most notable about this statistic is that it is not due primarily to the bad economy. While the Times poll showed that the percent of voters who feel he is doing a good job in handling the economy has dropped to 36%, Obama’s ratings in this category have been low for some time. The drop in favorability is new.

Rather the cause of his decreased likeability is his negative campaigning, both in person and on the air. He is now no longer the sunny, optimistic, friendly person he portrayed himself as being in 2008. Instead, a nasty, surly, angry image has taken over.
This change is at the heart of Obama’s dilemma. The more he goes negative, the more he hurts himself in the process and undermines the reservoir to good will that has sustained him through tough economic times.

As recently as one year ago, Obama’s personal favorability was ten points above his vote share in most polls. Now it is ten points below it presaging further a likely further drop in his poll numbers.

Maybe they should spend some money campaign and not polling

That's 2 billion dollars worth of jobs. Not bad for two guys arguing with each other. Aside from money in politics which isn't anything you lot have a problem with you should be giddy with joy. Private investors chose to invest in a candidate (so no naughty tax dollars being spent) and somewhere some kid is making comercials and editting them and being in the economy. It's a beautiful thing.

Poll finds gun owners, even NRA members, back some restrictions
(Reuters) - Most gun owners - even current and former members of the National Rifle Association - support some firearms ownership restrictions including criminal background checks for prospective gun buyers, according to a poll commissioned by an anti-gun lobbying group.

The survey was conducted by Republican pollster Frank Luntz.

Somebody get a fainting couch for Vetty and Coach QUICK!

Thank you Mr. President:

AP Exclusive: Internal documents shows Obama deportation proposal could cost more than $585M
CBO to employers: Obamacare has $4B more in taxes than expected

According to the Dept of Defense it costs half a million dollars to send a soldier to war in Afghanistan for a year. So these costs you're bitching about come to about nine troops then, eh?

In 2009 inflation was negative most months.
In 2010 it was in the 1% range most months
In 2011 it was 1.6% to to 3.9%

Let's go look at the past few months of 2012...
2.7% in March
2.3% in April
1.7% in May
1.7% in June

It's lower than almost every Bush+Republican month.

OH NOES KEYNSIANISM SENT INFLATION SPIRALING OUT OF CONTROL!!!

Seriously bro, where did you hear that it's out of control? Did Rush tell you that?

*chuckle*

What happened to brackets?

You know for a fact that the inflation is in the stock market and that the economy is driving gas prices down masking the inflation, but if you did the family grocery shopping, you would see it.

Your a fucking ass clown you're the master of talking out of both sides of your ass.
The fed's been trying for the past three years to stop deflation everything they try doesn't work now there doing qe3.

Poverty is up.

Food stamps are up.

SS Disability is up and welfare reform was gutted so the little darlings don't have to work...

That why we can say with CONFIDENCE that the Private Sector is doing FINE!

;) ;)

Home prices hit a bottom and are finally bouncing back, according to an industry report released Tuesday.
Nationwide, home values rose 0.2% year-over-year to a median $149,300 during the second quarter, the first annual increase since 2007, real estate listing site Zillow reported. Prices were up 2.1% from the first quarter.

Now is really the perfect time to buy.

No they aren't, no it's not, stick to what you know.

The foreclosure bottleneck is finally opening up after government did everything it could do to put off until after the election the pain of markets correcting themselves and it's one of the reasons why America is not back to work.

As I said two years back, even in a Depression there are bright spots the party in power can point to and say, "its' WORKING!"

It's not. We're following the path of Greece, Italy, Spain, Detroit and California...

The press is setting you up to save Obama.

Don't fall for it.

In stimulus news.

Aurora COlorado shooting financed and brought to you by US government spending...

Boy, do they know how to pick 'em.

I guess that you feel you need to top the stupidity of blaming it on "Liberal Hollywood" and video games.

Bravo! Well done!

We know, statistics lie, unless they agree with your position.

That's a pretty convenient way of looking at things, it allows you to ignore any good news and focus on any scrap of bad. No news there though, you've been doing this since the thread began.

Most would call it denial.

Is it not a fact that he used the proceeds of his grant to buy the weapons?

He didn't even have his PhD...

I don't think blaming it on Liberal Hollywood is all that stupid compared to how the blame the Tea Party nuts pop up with every act of violence.

When I was a kid the violence of Batman was POW in a cartoon balloon...

Look what they've done to it now.

I know, I know...

Blame ME!

Statistics only show what happened in the past, they are not indicative of the future.

Don't open your mouth and prove...

Based on PAST statistics, of which we have little or no comparable statistical data, which was one of the big problems with the housing derivative bubble, Moody's Models, which were based on ZERO data, one cannot call one slight uptick a trend, a pattern or a future probability.

Did they not teach statistics properly in your tech program?

3 years of stagnant since you started this thread to tell everyone how Obama had fixed the world. Pass the denial please?

Thank you, thank you very much.

I told him LOST DECADE, look at Japan who did the same thing...

But this time, it was going to work. This time HARVARD was in charge. Like Kennedy's Vietnam...

Nobody is blaming you, just pointing out that you're a moron for posterity. The fact that he may have used student loan funds to purchase the weapons is tangential and akin to blaming a bank for someone misusing funds they were loaned.

Now if you really want to talk about Batman we can do that too. Had you seen the movie (I'm assuming you haven't) you would know about the strong anti-gun message that the film projects. Not anti-second amendment mind you, but against the use of guns. You would know about the long history of the character's aversion to guns because of the death of both of his parents during an armed robbery.

Once again, you show exactly how little you know and how much you just parrot what you've heard and read from various wingnut sites. I especially liked Limbaugh's rant that the Bane character was a shot at Romney.

Tell us that we're no better off than we were when he took office.

I promise not to laugh, at least not directly in your face.
