The average dog is not trained to do any of those things. They make people happy.
Sounds like every dog that isn't trained for a task. Except play. Cats do that too.

Some of them are good at killing bugs and mice.
The ones we have are entertaining, sneaking into bags and boxes, then trying to fight their way out.
The best thing I can say about them is that they make my wife happy, which enhances my overall quality of life.

Lol - CadburyCat has an unhealthy fascination with plastic bags. She likes to climb into them to sleep, and she has a corner of the laundry behind the heater where she stashes any bags she can get hold of... almost building a nest for herself.
She also likes to chew on bubble wrap, making it pop.

The cats seem to know how to use their "wake up and feed me" tactics, to wake their mistress or master, to escape from a certain death by fire.

I don't understand this.... every cat I have ever owned has been completely house-trained.
Fat Freddy's Cat would ask what humans are good for, other than unreliable feeding.

In my experience cats treat you how you treat them. If you ignore them, they ignore you. If you are playful and affectionate with them, they're the same.
I have two amazing cats. They're old now and so sleep quite a bit, but they still love to play.
