Just curious as to what equipment is behind the great pics posted here... Keep your minds out of the gutter.. I meant photographic equipment... Although I guess there is some non-photographic tools that could be considered telescopic.

Me: Surprising enough, just a simple Fuji Finepix A205 Sometimes for self portraits, using a mini tripod and timer... Also for self portraits, I sometimes use the PC as my viewfinder by using a video capturing program... I'm hoping on introducing that to our repetoir for better third party perspective shots... Like having our own personal photographer.

I just ordered the software which goes to my Canon Powershot A80. Some of the pics are from my Creative web cam as well. *shrugs* I work with photos all day long, and don't really care to spend a lot of money on equipment and such for myself. Pictures are my work, I try to find other... hobbies.

So far, all my shots are done by myself. And I only have a ten second timer at that! I want someone to help shoot some of the more *complicated* stuff, but haven't asked him to do so yet. ;)

We use a Canon PowerShot S2 IS for our pictures, and I love it! Now just to learn how to take the darn thing off of auto, LOL.

Well, just ask... Any guy would be happy for the opportunity, I'm sure from what I've seen.

Going manual can be a scary undertaking, but once you get experimenting, you'll find lots of 'bad shots' that others might think are artistic... I'm not against fluking out once in a while, keeps variety in a series where most shots may look too similar.

I have a Fuiji FinePix F700 6.2 megapixel camera. Most of my pictures are taken with the tripod and either the 2 second or 10 second timer on my camera. For editing, I use Photoshop 6.0 (yes, not the newest but I like it!).

PS6 is affordable... PS8 or CS is not... If it works, use it. I had CS, but now I'm just as happy with 7.

Well I've had it for a long time... the hubby installed PS8, but I wasn't thrilled by it. He uses it though

powershot a580 digital camera, cannon.

i also have a webcam but dont use it for pics anymore

Crappy old webcam that came with a printer I bought years ago. The printer has been replaced, the webcam has not. I've been debating buying a new webcam or digicam though... but unsure if I can really justify the expense.

fallenupright, I understand the concern over expense, but now you can get an ok digicam for the same price as a mid-to-good quality film point-and-shoot. Just look at the digicams when your current fil camera might be replaced... If you don't have afilm camera, then now's a good time.

I have one of the more advanced Kodak point and shoot cameras. I had bought it as I did a lot of work with clients that needed to be sent pics via email. I didn't want to get into a full digital SLR, but kind of wish I would have at this point.
I also have a webcam that has made a few appearances. It's some logitech one... it's pretty clear compared to my old school Intel one that I've had since 2001.

I use two cameras...A Kodak cx7430 and a HP Photosmart M417 for taking pics...I utilize Photoshop Elements 4.0 for all my photo editing/resizing options.

I have several other photo editing programs, but Elements is the one I prefer...extremely user friendly....There are more options available in elements, most of which I have no command over yet  But I am trying to learn the more intricate parts as time goes on...Very user friendly for all the basics and a few of the "fancy" things....but takes time to learn alot of the fine details of editing

The one basic editor I use for resizing is IrfanView...I advise anyone who has no photo editor at all, or even if you do have one, to download for simple things....Best of all....it is FREE! :D

Sony HDC-X300 Video Camera for all the HD videos,
for pictures we use Nikon D70, and for just everyday fun pictures i have a canon powershot

Broke Uni student... can't afford to buy anything, let alone something that really, is completely unneccesary. My money needs to be saved for tuition, rent and groceries. As much as I'd love a digicam... I don't think I can really justify spending 2 weeks worth of grocery money on one. *shrug*

There is alot that can be done with a webcam and a free photo program for editing....i used to use a cheap webcam for everything but found free programs on CNET.com for editing.... ;) n Free is always a good thing...One just needs to take time to figure out the bells and whistles of the program...usually they are extremely user friendly :nana:

Oh, I have Paint Shop Pro 8 for editing. And GIMP. And Picture It Photo Premium 9. Not an awful lot can be done for just terrible quality and fuzziness. I want a sharper picture, but I'd have to pay for it. Meh.

No, you can't... I completely understand where you are coming from. I am a starving student, myself. We are lucky as I bought my cam when I was employed.

I use a Cannon Powershot A520, 4 megapixels, it's under $200, and gives you a lot of basic creative options. I usually set the shutter speed to fast, because a lot of times my hand will shake just enough to make the image blurry.

Depending on the lighting, I'll turn the flash on or off. I always set it manually, autofocus is usually fine. A little green box appears on the screen when the button is pressed half way to indicate the focus, so you can adjust the angle if needed. Also, the macro mode is great for extreme close-ups.

I think it's important to understand depth, and changing the angles just a little can make a big difference in getting the focus on the right spot.

Overall I'm really pleased with the image quality, very sharp and clear.

I don't do any editing at all except the Image Resizer Powertoy for Windows XP.

So that's it, no matter your skill level or knowledge, the most important thing is to use your imagination and have fun!

I started with a Sony Cybershot DSC-S30. When I stupidly broke it, I got a used Cybershot DSC-S50. Both do a pretty good job with timer and all. But the thing that helps me more with taking my own pics is that the view screen turns around so I can see what is in the picture while I'm posing. Helps a lot to cut down on discarded pics.

And the 2.1 Megapixels is plenty to get large pics that allow me to edit and still have clear pictures for posting.

Nikon Cool Pix 4800. I've a Nikon 35mm SLR, but I don't want to be bringing these pics to the photo store ;)
