actually there is a chemical (not sure what) in brussel sprouts that only some people can taste and those who can tend to not like it.. odd bit of trivia I picked up.

I know what you mean. I've never experienced war or disease, but I know how it feels to be hungry...and the idea of being hungry with no way to satiate the hunger makes me shudder. The idea of a kid being that hungry without relief makes me tear up.
