I was under the impression that the GOP had a definite Libertarian faction going back to the Reagan years or further. It was never at the center of the New Right coalition - the religious right and the business interests each counted for more -- but it was always a very important part of it.
Now we have an administration doing the most authoritarian, un-Libertarian things imaginable. They might like the spending cuts and staffing cuts, but these tariffs go against everything Libertarians believe. So do the deportations. So does all this lawfare against Democrats and weaponization of the DOJ. So does the idea that the president is a unitary executive all agencies must obey absolutely as if they were departments of one of his businesses. So does the idea that he can ignore court rulings. So do these arrests of judges. So does the interference with colleges and universities.
Why aren't the Libertarian Republicans raising Hell about all of that?!
