it was the big new thing a while back. i knew a guy, more than 20 yrs. ago, who was going to a sex addiction group 2 or 3 times a week. it was a big celebrity defense, too. now you never hear of it any more.

did sex addiction go the way of hypoglycemia and leg warmers? is it not fashionable any longer to claim sex addiction?

It's probably just not as marketable now for celebrities and such.

I have a friend though who has recently got into trouble because of porn addiction. He had some major health problems before Covid and was already having to restrict his time outside of his home. So, he would be sitting at home bored while his wife was at work and ended up becoming addicted to porn sites and private discussions with others. He's now talking with a marriage counselor and a porn/sex addiction recovery group. Of course, he isn't famous though.

I think covid and being in so many lockdowns thats the norm for alot of people,cant leave the house,turning to porn,becoming more and more addicted to it. You dont need to be a celebrity, just there the more news worthy but now people less interested in addictions its covid snd the planet

My theory, before it was a joke, something for sitcoms and people to make fun of because nobody thought it was a real kind of addiction.
Now that it's more recognizable as a real addiction, people are taking it more seriously and therefore not making fun of it as much and now nobody talks about it.

I am sex addict, but, and probably many others, but looks like it's not good to claim it if you are a celebrity... now they all claim crypto fans and supporters ...lol

Maybe they’re not using it because it’s a short step from there to being labeled a predator, and that didn’t work out so well for Weinstein?
