I think the best way to get the most out of anal penetration (especially if you're a slightly more mature man) is try prostate massage. There are a few different techniques. It has health benefits, can lead to ejaculation with or without erection, and can lead to a strong orgasm if combined with cock stimulation. You can use a finger in your ass to massage your prostate, but a specifically designed sex toy (vibrating or not) makes it easier to do.

A big bottle of water-based lube is essential. Use lots of it, and anal exploration will be comfortable and easy.

A slender vibrator isn't going to give you much fun for long. It can be problem too.
