Workers Memorial Day 28 April 2012

Every year more people are killed at work than in wars. Most don't die of mystery ailments, or in tragic "accidents". They die because an employer decided their safety just wasn't that important a priority. Workers' Memorial Day commemorates those workers.

Worker's Memorial Day is held on 28 April every year, all over the world workers and their representatives conduct events, demonstrations, vigils and a whole host of other activities to mark the day.

The day is also intended to serve as a rallying cry to 'remember the dead, but fight for the living'.

Unfortunately, the erosion of workers rights is going on more than ever. The tories lovely doubling of the period before you can claim unfair dismissal being just one example.

The attacks on health and safety, the proposed changes to emp tribunal apps... yet in a strange twist they avoid looking into the bogus self employment scam in the construction industry, hence the 'self employed' are responsible for their own H+S !! and as for phoenix firms...
