"WHAT DOES ONE NEED TO SUBMIT A STORY?"

On 10/22/99, I submitted a story to this site. However, several hours later I noticed 10 new stories on this website and none of them were mine. Is there a specific requirement or standard that applies to story submission?

It takes up to a week or so to see a story posted here, since there is a bit of a backlog. Then again, maybe your story was complete crap and was instantly deleted. *s*

It would be more professional for the writer to be informed of the delay, as well as the possibility of having his/her story deleted for whatever reason. Afterall, I am sure that every writer who have submitted one or more stories on this and any other website has taken lots of time out their daily schedule and put forth lots of effort. It would only be respectful and reasonable to be advised of such delimmas.
PEACE & CHICKEN GREASE!!!

Hi #1derfulGuy...

I have revised the confirmation letter to say that there might be up to a week between receipt of story and posting.

As I've said before, Manu and I run this site together. We both work "real" jobs and do this in our "spare" time (read: 6-10 hours a day). We get 15-20 story submissions (sometimes more) every day, and we read and post each one personally. In addition, we have email to respond to, technical problems to work out, and general site maintenance. I love Literotica, but at times it is difficult to keep up with the demand, and it is most frustrating for us when the people we are trying to please are unhappy with us. We want to keep the site free, and so we can't really afford to quit our jobs and do this full-time. We thank you for your patience. take care...

Laurel, is the Confirmation message that you get personally sent - that is, does it mean that the story has been read and that in time it will be posted, or is it an automatic computer response?

The confirmation message is sent by me. I send it after I've saved the story to a "to be read & edited" folder. It means I've received the story.

Authors told me they wanted some kind of verification that I got their story intact. Obviously, if I handwrote a reply to every submissions I'd have little time to read and post! So, I have a little message I cut and paste in & send out.

If, after reading a story, I have a problem with the content or whatever, I email the author personally.

OK to continue beating this dead horse, how about multiple submissions, on the same day or within a few days of each other. Is there one response, or one per story?

ATTENTION FELLOW READERS: PLEASE ALLOW ME TO CLARIFY THIS ISSUE.................
After several responses and explanations by Laurel, as well as examining the agreement on the home page, it is now understood that the stories that are submitted must first undergo editing and proofreading before being displayed on this or any websites. Let's face it...Laurel or Manu does not want to be responsible for a story of a 12 yr. old girl who is having sex with a college football team and its bulldog mascot. And, as a former law enforcement officer, I wouldn't blame them.
Originally, I was upset to see several new stories on the website and not mine. When I wrote the above message (the one at the top), a fellow reader (Southernhelle) had responded and was mistaken to be a Literotica representative. I generated my anger toward the website when I should have generated it toward the dillweed who responded. I have since received an e-mail from Laurel and we stated our agreements. In the meantime & in between time, I would like to extend my apology to Literotica, Laurel/Manu, and all of the fellow readers for the confusion that was caused in the past 24 hours in regards to this matter. Furthermore, I hope that this message will make more clarity of the issue for now and in the future./#1derfulGuy

Hi #1derfulGuy and all...

No problem...! I know that there's been some grumbling about how long it's taken to get stories up, and I apologize for that. I'm going to bust serious ass this weekend and hopefully eliminate any backlog - I've already cut my "to be edited" folder from 120 stories down to 45. By next week, you should see your story posted within 1-3 days of submission... Of course, I AM human (I had to stop for an hour or two last night to watch Naseem Hamed pummel Soto last night on HBO - a pretty lackluster fight, but the undercard fight rocked! I'm not a big sports fan - boxing is my one guilty pleasure) and things may happen, so bear with me.

This weekend I am also working on the mid-month newsletter (a smaller version to tide you over till the beginning of Nov.) to be sent out Sunday night, if all goes well. And, as soon as I can get caught up with the stories, I will be able to put all my effort into getting other projects up and running, like an archive of audio stories, erotic arcade games, etc (all free, of course).

#1derfulGuy - no worries, man! Rock on...

The space bar on my keyboard is acting funny, so I apologize for any words that run together in this post.

dillweed? that's most certainly a first. what's the anger from anyway? if you mistook me for something i wasn't without any sort of prompting towards that thought on my part, that's your problem. my answer was (and is) precise. backlog=time lapse. seems if you're submitting stories to a site you would have read all the intro stuff first, which would have answered your question without you having to type it out...

Hey,Laurel, Aside from erotic story reader(incest in particular) I am also a big boxing fan. I was a little upset when I got home the fight of Hammed was already over. Good thing you said that the fight was not that great.

Hi Buddy!

The fight was all right - the Naz is always entertaining to watch. I think he over-trained... He's switched managers from that Ingle guy the one he's had forever) and is now in the hands of the same guy who trains Lennox Lewis. Naz has never been trained in a structured way, so going out to a camp and all that is new to him. He's getting a little more old-school teaching, and he's still trying to integrate that with his wild, original style. You could tell - at first, he was really stiff and inhibited, but as he went along he loosened up a bit. I think once he learns to mesh old school boxing with his crazy, unpredictable ways, he'll be unstoppable.

He's so damn fast, and punches hard - he's hard to catch in the ring. That Soto guy was flat-footed - he had no footwork. They kept wrestling each other - Naz got penalized twice, and one of the times was for holding on to Soto (though Soto was holding just as much - he was penalized a point in a later round for head butting). The other penalty off Naz was when he literally (I'm not kidding) picked Soto off his feet and threw him onto the canvas! It was full-on WWF action!

I'm sure HBO will rerun the fight, and it's worth it to watch the undercard (McCullough vs. Morales) and to see Naz flip that guy over. I've never ever seen anything like that happen in a boxing match - crazy stuff...

A little off the subject of the board, I know...

Laurel, as an author and reader, I am very impressed with Literotica and have no problems with the delays in posting of stories. Keep up the fine work.

Hey Laurel,

This site is awesome and you do a great job so you just go girl! You sound really smart and so nice, too. I'll tell you what, Mr. #1derful Guy's story better be pretty damn good for all the whining he did.

And you love boxing! Me too. I also watched the Hamed fight and you described it perfectly. I think the fact that the referee didn't properly control the fight and that Soto was just trying to survive and not win contributed to the debacle.

Some people think it strange that I'm crazy about boxing. Not all that wierd. Look at all the women who are nuts about Oscar. Look at all the women at the fights in Vegas. Hint: if you want to go to Vegas, tell him you want to see a fight, not gamble away all his money.

Anyway, so I'm writing an erotic boxing story, just for you Laurel. A girl fights guy thing. Of course the girl wins. Women rule!

And those "Fair Game" stories you recommended? What a riot! I love the story and this dude's lines, like he has humilility, you know, with "We weren't the sharpest crayons in the box ... "

I mean, to me, sex is even better if it's funny. And if you can't have a few laughs along with great sex, why even involve men at all? And if there is no time for fun, what are women saving the world for?

In the "Fair Game Pt. II" this really just flipped me out, the dude just gets a great blowjob from teacher and "I took a deep breath, stepped back, and decided it was Miller Time. 'Well, that was fun! I declared to my harem of two. 'Now, who's gonna get me a beer?' They looked at each other incredulously for a moment. Then Martha got up, went to the kitchen, and returned with a Coors Light. Women!"

How true to life. The dude gets a great blowjob and the first thing he says is he wants a beer. Then he whines because it wasn't the kind he asked for. Deja vu for me.

This reminds me of how I know women rule the world ...

IF MEN RULED THE WORLD

Instead of a beer belly, you'd get "beer biceps."

Nodding and looking at your watch would be deemed a response to "I love you."

Hallmark would make "Sorry, what was your name again?" cards.

The guy in the office that farted the loudest would get to be CEO.

When your girlfriend really needed to talk to you during the game, she'd appear in a little box in the corner of the screen during a time-out.

Breaking up would be a lot easier. A smack on the butt and a "Nice hustle, you'll get'em next time" would pretty much do it.

Birth control would come in ale or lager.

"Sorry I'm late, but I really got wasted last night" would be an acceptable excuse for tardiness.

Tanks would be far easier to rent.

Garbage would take itself out.

Instead of an expensive engagement ring, you could present your wife-to-be with a giant foam hand that said, "You're #1!"

It would be considered harmless fun to gather 30 friends, put on horned helmets, and go pillage a nearby town.

Telephones would automatically cut off after 30 seconds of conversation.

The victors in any athletic competition would get to kill and eat the losers.

AND ON AND ON AND ON. Which brings me to the theme of my boxing story and the difference between men and women. The girl wins but she doesn't kill the loser. She just eats him. LOL!

No problem Laurel, take your time my friend. I am not too much of a sports fan neither but boxing seems to interest me more than any other sport (Though the De La Hoya-Trinidad fight totally had me "angry to the bladder"). But as I said, take your time. I understand that you're only human.
Southernhelle, I truly understood the issue of backlog. My gripe was when you mentioned the deletion of a story. I replied, in reference to all of the writers/readers, that upon deletion one should be notified. NO BIGGIE!!!
Lastly, Deborah, I did earlier and once again humbly apologize for, what seemed like, "whining". I am not about to produce a "my story is the bomb" kind of attitude. I feel that the story may be just as good as any other story on this website. I have been a reader of Literotica website for a short time but I find that I am here more than another that I used to surf. I agree with a statement that you made. Laurel & Manu have created a "Killer" website here. But I have apologized before of the confusion and I only hope that the story is enjoyed by many readers. As a writer since college, I am aware that I will get some positive feedback of the story just as I will get many negative ones. One must learn to deal with rejections when it comes to writing. So please, don't expect a story like "War & Peace" to be submitted by me. I just hope that you all enjoy reading it.

Well Mr. #1derful Guy, I forgive you. But then, it wasn't me you called a dillweed.

If I were you I would send "southernhelle" some caviar and expensive wine. She was just kidding about your story being crap. Can't you tell when a girl is kidding?

But then, maybe it is crap. What's the name of it anyway? (I bet the name is #1derful Story by #1derful Guy) I don't want to miss this one!

Hey Hey Hey!!

Let's all be friends... Everyone step back and take a DEEEEEP breath... in through the nose, now exhale through your mouth... close your eyes, and relax... now don't you feel better? I know I do... (learned that at Kung Fu class - it's one of the few Kung Fu moves I can do without falling over...)

I have neither edited nor posted #1derful Guy's story as of yet, but please, girls - keep your claws in when you see it! tee hee... I'm sure it's great, let's give the guy a second chance here...!

Deborah - you a boxing fan too? Have you ever stopped and asked yourself what it is about boxing that intrigues you? I have, and I can't figure it out. I'm not a big fan of real violence (love horror flicks, action thrillers, and John Woo movies, but not all that into the real thing). I have no interest in wrestling or "extreme" fighting. I love martial arts flicks - the good ones, not the kickboxing Sasha Mitchell crap. Love Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee, Jet Li... In boxing I'm more into the lighter weight classes - heavyweights just sort of stand there and clobber each other - no finesse or strategy, just brute force...

Naseem Hamed is one of my favorites. The way that guy moves is witchcraft - no other way to explain it. I also dig watching Roy Jones Jr. (he's a heavier fighter with the speed of a lightweight), Sugar Shane Mosely, Luisito Espinoza (MAN that guy's fast! and he's got an insane reach!), and Vinnie "The Paz" Pacienza (he's a total freak! but soo underrated!). Ali is my hero, though I'm not to excited about his recent plans to fight again (who wants to see an old man with Parkinsons get in the ring? What kind of person would hit him?)

I guess what I like about boxing is that it's so direct, but structured. I have tremendous admiration for these fighters, and am saddened that no one protects them. They literally put their lives on the line, yet are paid a pittance compared to stars in football, basketball, and baseball. Plus, players in all those other sports wear protective gear. There's been talk of regulating boxing - making it more legit, forcing bozers to wear headgear, etc. The primary complaint is that less people will want to see a fight if there's no chance of a knockout, if they just have to go by scorecards. I say too bad... If spectators want to see blood and injury, they should go watch WWF. I want to watch healthy athletes pit their speed, coordination, and reflexes against one another. I don't need to see a broken nose to feel I got my money's worth.

Anyway, once again I've gone off the subject. Back to editing I go!

Is this thread about Dillweeds or Boxing?

Anyhoo --

Laurel,

Literotica is growing. Do you think you can keep up with the increased amount of submissions? I'd hate to hear about how you've burnt out and started kickboxing Manu to death in a psychotic rage while screaming, "I'll post it on Monday! I'll post it on Monday!" Do you think you might farm some of the editing work out? Or maybe just get more selective about the stories, and post fewer? Whatever you do, take care of you, baby.

Dixon

Laurel, I'm certainly willing to give Mr. #1derful Guy a second chance. After all, most men you have to give at least a hundred chances. What's the name of his story again? "I am God" or some such thing? OK, OK, I'll be nice. Besides, I'm pissed at somebody else now. Sorry Mr. #1derful Guy for picking on you. Poor baby!

I was mulling over what you asked, Laurel, like what it is about boxing that intrigues me. Then I pick up USA TODAY and read what Joe Saraceno says about boxing ...

"Contrary to what laymen believe about the noble art of pugilism, boxing is not about mayhem. It is about rehearsed, controlled bursts of aggression. It is about psychologically reducing your opponent to mental rubble, then making him vulnerable. It is a mental discipline requiring great self-restraint. That is what separates professional fighters from nightclub bouncers and gang-bangers."

That's it! I love the same thing about boxing that I love about reading and writing erotica. The mindfucking!

Hey girl, great newsletter! I wondered if we would ever hear from Manu. And here I thought he just brought you burgers while you were editing and you otherwise kept him locked in the closet.

I thought that was very interesting what Manu said about people screwing with your site. Geez! Yep, you know you're good when that stuff starts to happen, despite the hassle.

Well put, Deborah... Boxing's an elaborate dance, pitting one man's strategy, skill, and reflexes against those of another man. It's a lot like flirting - the sizing up, testing the boundaries, trying different combinations until you get one that works...

So, miraculously, we've managed to go from erotic stories to dillweeds to boxing, and now steer the conversation back once again to the erotic. Whew! What a ride!!

As far as the ripoff scammers go, I guess you're right - people don't usually rip you off unless they think you've got enough traffic to steal. However, like Manu said, we're more angry than flattered. The Internet is still a lot like the Wild West - lawless and open. In some respects that's a wonderful thing, but it's irritating that these spammers can effectively pretend to be you and you have little recourse.

If this happened in the real world - if, say, some yahoo set up a burger stand and called it McDonald's - it would be dealt with swiftly and harshly. Unfortunately, this is not so on the Net... I think the tide will turn, though, as more and more businesses go web.
