Not that I think it'll do any good, but this is a poll to determine what the single most important upgrade to its site that CHYOO can make. These are mostly very simple things that should take a computer-savvy person only a short time and minimal effort to do.

This poll is geared so that you may choose more than one response. In order to keep the results useful, please select no more than the three you think should have highest priority.

Incidentally, I voted for 2, 6, and 7.

Good List

I voted for all of them. Most of the fixes are easy and should be done at once. The site could be improved with a few hours work, and it would be easier to attract new people if it was slightly easier to work with.

This is a good starting point, maybe someone will read it who has something to do with improving the site. I wonder why we never get any communication from whoever it is who is in charge of the site?

:D

Fix the editor feedback to users

In some ways I'm most persistently annoyed at having to fish around for editor feedback to my thread contributions by doing an "add new thread". (Plus it means that it's no longer a one to one conversation).

Opps..

Sorry Gystex,
I voted before I read your post and I thought that more than 3 of the options were important. I voted for almost everything too. I agree with Jake that the site could be done nicely with a couple hours of work.

I have my own personal website that I haven't updated forever. It doesn't take long to do, but my site doesn't get the views and doesn't have the members like this site. If I had other people waiting on my updates, it would spur me into action more. Wouldn't you think it would be the same for Chyoo?

On the Chyoo home page it states that the membership is almost up to 20, 000. That's a lot of people depending on the moderators to get things done.

Good list Gystex. Maybe somebody should volenteer to help. Anybody have an knowledge of databases and such?

Another item that might be of interest to add would be the ability, as the creater of the story, to edit all threads even after approval as well as the ability to remove threads in such an instance, even for trusted writers. You never know when the subject matter can make a turn that you would not approve of.

An addendum for my previouse post, I really want the rating system fixed. Lord of the Realm, another of my stories, is currently listed at number 4 with a rating of 4.1, but Waking Up has a rating of 4.5 and Angst is rated 4.2.

Is that a subtle hint, Zigurat?:D

Removing threads...

It sounds like a good idea and all, but you have to be carefull with that. Removing a thread in the middle of a story could sevre the story in 2. You can't take away the middle of the story, because the end would be lost. If the thread is the last one in the storyline, then removing it would be fine.

I thought the editor could edit any thread now?

The ratings are all messed up. I have stories that show up as rated, 0.0. LOL. Even though in reality they have like 200 votes and are rated 4.1? Ok, weird. I always hated to see a new story show up with 1 vote of 5 and it be ranked #1 of all time.
