The setting is modern day in a medium-sized, coastal town. The main character is a female fairy with magical tattoos.

Does this description make you roll your eyes? Do you think it's silly?

What exactly are the powers contained within said magickal tattoos?

The description resulted more in a cocked head and a slight smile than rolled eyes, so you make of that what you will.

Define fairy - fairy or faerie?

Did you look cute when you did that? Please answer honestly, it's very important to the integrity of the report.

Everyone knows strange spellings are the best.
Could you define the difference between the two?

It was very innocent, like a little girl; perhaps a bit mischievous, but lighthearted and gay.

Befitting of a fey creature such as would appear in the story.

Erm, yes.

I ty not to think.
It hurts my head
or both my heads

but seriously- the basic premise seemed worth building upon.

Depends how it's done. The first thing it makes me think of is a sort of magic-realism tale: something along the lines of Gabriel Garcia Marquez or Louise Erdrich. I find that magic realism has the potential to be one of the most achingly beautiful modern genres. I guess what that means is: don't try to write about how there's a different fairy reality and explainable magical powers. Instead, allow the story to be mysterious and beautiful and inexplicable: the woman has strange tattoos, and strange things happen. Think of mythology or folklore transplanted into the modern world.

I think the magick might be like a code. The person who solves the riddle of the tattoos gets sexual powers or gratification.

I have a question, is the fairy really small or normal size?

Fairy and faerie are two different spellings for the same thing, however fairy is also used to denote a very feminine man. Means you either mean a pixie type thing or a very gay man. :p :nana:

Oh why not, this isn't the way I usually write things, but I'll give it a small shot. Please keep in mind I don't do these so if it's terrible cut me some slack jack. :catroar:

The sound of the crashing waves splashes over all of the small town. The locals can be spotted by their hunched shoulders, low hanging caps and thick coats. The town is earily quiet besides the crashing waves, here and there are cars and trucks, though everyone walks.

Jack walks along, his shoulders not as hunched as the older locals, his head held higher and he looks about as he walks. He stops suddenly as he see's a slight woman, she is marked as an outsider to his trained eyes, she isn't wearing the thick navy blue coat everyone else does, she has no cap atop her head and what she is wearing is little more than a bag with holes cut in it for her legs, head and arms.

At first he just stares at this strange woman in his small town. It takes him a moment to notice her flowing light red hair, her small nose, gentle cheeks and small mouth that slowly turns into a smile as she looks in his direction. Suddenly she is darting off, not toward town or one of the outlying houses, but up the hill that turns into the mountains.

As he stares after her he notices tattoes all over her arms and legs, some seem to be shining, others black as night, but they all seem to have color to them. After she disapears he studies her in his mind's eye and decides that she was beautiful, and that she winked at him before running off. He stops and ponders for a moment what her wink meant, if she even did wink, was he supposed to follow her, did she think he was cute, or none of the above.

With a 'screw it' he chases after her, ignoring the looks from the other locals as he darts past them and moves up the hill. At first he sees nothing, then he sees her. She is sitting atop a rock some 300 yards above him, when her eyes alight on him she stands, smiles broadly at him, turns and heads up into the mountainous trees.

He runs after her, fast as he can, but she remains just ahead of him. As he moves on, catching slight glimpses of her from time to time, he notices the trees are changing about him. Not just the trees either, the air is changing, getting less pollution, getting sweeter smelling, leaves on the ground stop cracking as he goes, and the birds are more cheerful.

He stops as he sees a deer off to his left, that he knows can't be, there aren't any more deer in the area. Suddenly she is there beside him, her hand on his, her small fingers grasping at his hand pulling him along with her. Without taking a step the deer is far behind them, and they are at the edge of a clearing, a small spring splashing and crashing over rocks on the far side from them.

A small house suddenly appears before them, it wasn't there befpre, tehn it just sort of slid from his right and stopped before them. She opens the door, pulls him in without his taking a step and he finds himself sitting down at a table staring out the window at the spring.

Is that perhaps what you were looking for? :cathappy:
