What do you think of this crazy teacher?

What's the crazy part about this?

You see nothing wrong with requiring elementary school students to write get well letters to this notorious killer? If Ted Bundy or John Wayne Gacy or others of their ilk were still alive, would you require your third grade students to send them valentines?

The teacher responsible believes he was wrongly convicted.

How dare she squeeze those kids for some of the milk of human kindness, to be completely wasted on a convicted killer. What sort of life lesson is that?

If she wanted them to send mail to wounded veterans in VA hospitals, I would be fine with that. But why this unrepentant killer?

In another thread you're complaining that academia doesn't allow enough free speech. Now you're saying people have the right to "not be offended". Which one is it??

I'll admit that I don't know too much about the shooting, but a few quick searches are starting to turn up reports that witness accounts were not accurate.

Do you consider the third grade to be "academia?" And it's not free speech when people are required to do it. People do have the right to "not be offended" but when a teacher assigns such an outrageous project as this, she should expect to be derided.

Deride her all you like. This isn't about free speech, this is about you getting your way, and screw everyone else in the process. You're in this thread insisting that government punish this person for offending you.

If you want to just talk about how you don't like it that's fine, but you're the textbook definition of a hypocrite if you think she should be fired over this.

No. Wikipedia's a fun site to browse, but I don't include it in my list of sources.

You were the one who mentioned free speech in Post #9. Punish which person? The killer or the crazy teacher?

I'm sorry, were you not talking about free speech in another thread? Just so we're clear, you were. You even added a link to website that stated "people don't have the right to not be offended".

Just so we're clear on another point in post #1 of this thread you said that the government should punish this woman simply on the grounds that she offended you.

It's a bit odd mind you but ultimately harmless. There are a lot of wrongly convicted people on Death Row. A frightening amount really and I'm fairly certain the kids had no idea who they were writing to so it didn't hurt anything but your sensibilities.

Should they right to vets? Yeah. Do they? I dunno. They are out on V-Day for a holiday anyway but do we know she didn't do that?

Ultimately this thread is proof that not only is all well in the world but Obama's a fine president. Because we are honestly bitching about the harm of some third graders writing to a felon instead of something that could cause serious harm to the world, country or something else. Hell when WAS the last serious thread about Obama's killing us all?

There haven't been any serious threads about Obama's determination to annihilate the U.S.

Most of the joke threads don't show up for me because I have Jen on ignore again.

I have often mentioned free speech, but not on this thread, because it has nothing to do with free speech. If the teacher had wanted to send a get-well letter to the killer, that would be free speech, but that is not what the thread is about.

I believe the teacher in this case should be fired for requiring her third grade students to write the letters, and the principal and school board seem to be in agreement with that. Offending me has nothing to do with it. Offending common decency is what this is about.

You'd be factually wrong in saying this has nothing to do with free speech. You want the government to take action against this person because she has beliefs that don't align with yours.

Again, you're being a hypocrite. You previously stated that people don't have the right to not be offended.

Counterpunch? Why? Couldn't you find something more biased than that?
