On your Lit published stories, what do you consider to be a good score? Just wanting to see how others feel about it!

I'm not quite sure what you mean.

Do you mean the totals after being voted on?

yup thats what I mean... I think! lol I know some people think anything over 3 is good others think only a 5 will do..just wondering what you all think?

I am happy with anything over 4.0, because then I know I got mostly 4s and 5s. Under 4.0 and I'm disappointed.
It also depends on the category. When I post stories in the Interacial Love category I get lower scores because there are some people who vote any interacial story down.

Personally,I dont look at my scores. If I did,I'd probably stop writing anything. ;)

The only time I did care was during the poetry olympics.

But having just checked mine, they are at a steady number and suprisingly, almost identical in rank.

I check mine a lot when the story first goes up, because I am always sort of insecure about how well I told my story, but as soon as I start writing the next one I forget about it. I don't worry much about how it though, because, honestly, I'm writing here because I want to express my feelings about sexuality, and not to titillate others, that's just a pleasing extra benefit when that happens.

I know what I just said on this thread, about not being much concerned about how much people like my stories, but I just got mail about my new one, and read this:

"too often writers do not take the time to allow the reader to form images of the characters, both physical and personality, but, i come away from your stories feeling like i have just shared a secret with a dear friend...."

and it literally brought tears to my eyes. So, shame on me. To anyone who reads my stories, whether you like them or not, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Scores

I'm satisfied to stay in the top 25. Don't look at the scores all that much. Until this thread that is.

It's amazing how close some of the top stories are in score.

I never look at the top lists, they make me cry.

Considering the audience anything over 4.0 is successful, anything over 3.0 isn't bad, anything over 2.0 has too many mechanical errors please get a dictionary, anything over 1.0 is either pretty crappy or you've got a lot of enemies, anything over 0.0 is fake.

I realize this is a completely fragged out scale, but hey, those of us sitting at 1.24 need something to assuage our sensitive egos.

I looked at the top lists once... it wasnt very pretty! lol

I do wish that I got more feedback though, as long as it is done in a constructive way. I dont like "Your story sucks" kind of stuff but I dont mind critisizm (well not that much anyways). Thanks for sharing your insights.

CarolineOh(sp?) That is such a great compliment I am heading off now to read some of your work!

Scores are a weird kind of a thing. I check my votes every once and a while. What miffs me more than anything is the fact that all these people will read it, and then not vote on it. Like on my only Erotic Poem, "Alright," I have something like 300 views, and yet only about 6 votes. Even if I only got 1.00's and stuff, I'd at least like to see some little tallies there.

I've sent mail to a person on a few occasions if I really like their writing. I've only ever gotten 1 response from my work. *sigh* It kinda sucks when you put your heart and soul into something, and then it just kind of gets ignored. But, then again, how many people are there on Lit? How many different poems/stories? I guess I should be thankful that I get any views at all, right?

You can just call me Caroline, honey. Turnabout is fair play, so I'll check out your stories, too.:)
As for feedback, I enjoy hearing it, although the largest share of comments I get are along the lines of "I liked your story, can I fuck you?"

I can't believe you have ever scored that low! You are a terrific writer. Was it an experiment that just didn't work?

Totally. I've always been a fan of your work, Muffin. You kick major ass. :D
