What do you see?

I'm fussy about where I write, and I always find I'm more productive when I have a nice view. Today has been exceptional - I've penned myself away in a loft conversion with velux windows and a beautiful view, and as a result I've achieved around nine pages of MS Word after a real writing drought.

When I look out of the window I see acres of blue sky, a couple of planes swooping down towards Cardiff airport, and a beautiful forest, which, at the moment, is completely in the sunset glow.

So here's my question: What do you see when you look out of your window, and does it make a difference to your writing? :rose:

A bird's view over a valley with woods, a train station and a prison. I get spectacular sunsets.

And no. If anything, the view is a distraction. So my desk is facing the other way.

I see the side of the neighbor's house and some bushes, trees and leaves. Occasionally there are some cats lurking around out there.

It's nice and peaceful. I like it.

I see my curtains. I love windows, but I'm on the ground floor here and I hate the thought of anyone looking into my room. So the curtains are more often than not closed.

I don't look out my window...

I watch TV -- MTV Hits
I also look over at the couch where either my girl and the dog are taking a nap or just the dog.

Sincerely,

I see my entry way but over my shoulder is a window looking out into the back yard. I can see our swing set and over the fence is the neighbors house. Its actually quite pretty and relaxing.

My desk is in the corner of the room, and the wall is directly behind the screen.

No distractions.

Mind you, I haven't written anything for months, life's been too manic for that, so I guess the view just doesn't have any effect.

I'll tell you when I finally start writing again.

I don't find my view either stimulating or distracting ... so it really doesn't matter. Noise is a MUCH bigger factor.

I can see the wall of the three story apartment building next door. It's about 3 metres (10 feet) away.

Doesn't matter. Like Imp, noise if more of a distraction than view.

Depends which way I look.

If I look towards the screen I see a wall with maritime pictures on it - two limited edition prints and an original oil painting.

If I look out of the door I see the sea and the beach if the tide is out.

If I look out of the window I have another view of the sea.

If I stand up, walk to the door and look I can see a large expanse of sea. A few steps more to the balcony and I have 180 degree view of sea. The weather and visibility determine how much I can see. On a good night like tonight I can see ships forty miles away, the navigation lights and if I look in one direction some shoreland many miles away. If I look up I see stars, the full moon and a few aircraft lights.

My 'view' is of the beam at the edge of the dormer - I can't actually see the windows at all.

However, my mind's eye can see all sorts of things: the trees in the New Forest; the valley above Kettlewell, J-L and Ogg in Wetherspoons; the dogs playing on Ilkley moor (neither of them wearing hats); my dining room with a young lady's top and bra pulled up over her tits by a friend...
