What Do You Like About Men?

It seems like everytime men are mentioned on this board, it's in connection with something bad about them (us), and, not to sound unduly whiney, but it would be nice to hear something else for a change. Surely there must be something about men that redeems us somewhat, that makes us preferrable to (say) tropical fish or painted turtles.

So I'm starting this thread to provide a venue for giving males a little positive reinforcement. What is it that you like about men? Not: what would you like in an ideal man, but what do you like about real, live men in the real world?

There are many things that make us preferable to Tropical fish, dr_m. Painted turtles....? You might be asking too much.

Well, men like sex. Actually they're crazy about it. That's all I can think of right now. :D

Nope. It's an odd fetish, but if both you and the fish are consenting...;)

I think they are agreeable... at least most of the times... can't be sure though. You see there's this little problem of communication.

Okay, if it's positive reinforcement you want then I can do it for you Dr. M. Men are good because:

1. They can lift / move heavy things.

2. They're nice if you train them well.

3. They can fix cars and make bookshelves.

4. They are handy in an emergency, but otherwise they just look silly.

5. You need them for reproduction.

I think I can get some more for u if I think harder. Tomorrow please, four in the morning here.

Hmm...Like. About men. Does it have to be about all men? Aside from the obvious?

I like that some of them want to know what women like about men. They talk tough, but they need to know what we like. That's good; it can be bad, if they use the knowledge to control us - but even that can be good.

I like men who take control. It's so much more interesting that way, when they lose control.

I like men because hardly any of them are Donald Rumsfeld. Think of it: hundreds of millions of men; all that DNA in the Cuisinart. Almost anything could have happened. Yet we only ended up with one Ken Starr and one Donald Rumsfeld. Only one George Clooney, too, but it's a fair trade-off.

Muscles are good. Unless they're in the skull area, and even that can be charming sometimes.

I like that they can pick us up and carry us across a room, and yet they don't do it all the time. To have that kind of power and not abuse it is commendable. And sexy.

I like that some men are able to use their powers for Evil. And make it good.

Oh - I left out an important one. I like that men can use the same basic moves as teenaged boys, and make it work. Like tongue-kissing. Nothing was worse for some of us girls, growing up, than our first, sloppy tongue-kiss from a boy. The same tongues, a few decades later, are just amazing.

Positive reinforcement

They've got a nice, comfortable place on their shoulder that's perfect for snuggling into while we fall asleep.

The feel of a newly shaved cheek.

They make excellent companions when driving through rough neighborhoods or walking past dark alleys.

They don't care whether colors match, but are willing to be concerned if we want them to be.

They give us a peek at the little boy inside when they get sick or happy or hurt.

They have a never-aging child within them.

They're great when they wrap their arms around us. I like feeling safe when I am in my man's arms. I like feeling secure and taken care of, pampered.

They're bigger and taller, so even on the days we feel like a cow, a guy can make us feel delicate and pretty.

--- Muscles, skin, hairy chests, big hands, the way the smell. more to come. :)

What I like about men. . . . .

That would be their propensity for sheer, uninhibited gratuitous nudity.

Yup.

Their Ass... IF...

I like a nice tight ass on a man who works out regularly, but isn't overly muscled.

I like that grin they get sometimes, when they think nobody is looking. That grin that says they are thinking about me as more than a meat substitute.

I like the way they trip over their mouths when they realise that I'm in the room and caught them doing something naughty, like swearing with one of their buddy's.

And I really love the fact that 99.9% of the time their minds are on sex. I wish I could do that. (Sigh)

Well, they do come in handy for changing a tire and reaching things from high shelves.

A Texan walks into a Rolls Royce dealer and starts looking at the different models.

Salesman: "Good day, sir. Are we thinking about buying a Rolls Royce?"

Texan: "Good day, to you, son. I don't know about you, son, but I only think about important things. I'm gonna buy a Rolls Royce. I'm THINKING about Pussy."

. . . and I'm wondering about DS's men that let their mind wander that other .1% ;)

This just in -

Apparently, one of them wrote Brahms' Third Symphony. Nice work! We need more of that sort of thing.

I also admire the "feigned cluelessness" that some husbands and live-ins use when they don't want to look for something: "Where do we keep the milk?" "What have you done with my socks?"

Why, thank you Perdita. It's not copyrighted or anything. Just a candid shot taken during rehearsals.

One word:

Penis.

What's not to love about one of those?

~WOK

It isn't what he has. It's what he does with it. ;)

On another note, I once heard a penis being referred to as "that tiny, wrinkled thing you have down there." :D

I like a lot of things about specific guys. Taken as a group I think it's easier to dwell on the negatives than the positives, but that could be said of most any group including women, Muslims, Baptists, The Rich, the Poor and anyone in between.

It is my experience that men in general are helpful and courteous. There is always the bad egg with the big mouth, roaming hands or Bigoted attitude. I think we tend to remember the excessively bad people we deal with a lot more vividly than the vast majority of nice folks simply because they are an abberation.

I like that they aren't women. I have and love my girlfriends, but I need my guy friends as well.

I like gossiping with my girlfriends. I like NOT gossiping with my guy friends.

I like it that I can be un-PC with my guy friends and we don't have to stumble all over ourselves explaining away how we're not really neanderthals just because we laughed at something inappropriate.

Sometimes I do just want somebody to give me an answer to a problem rather than spend two hours talking about how I feel about it.

Physically, I love their strenght and their hardness and the softness of their skin when you least expect it. The smell of them, the sound of a deep rumbly voice. Toddler hair in the morning while he's scratching his chest and stumbling around wondering how little clothing he can manage to get away with donning before he wanders to the kitchen to drink out of the OJ carton.

I love being exposed to different points of view that other women don't usually expose me to. The male brain is different. Sometimes that's frustrating as hell, but most of the time it's fascinating and exciting.

I like it that they stare at my tits or my mouth or that I can see in their eyes just what they're thinking about doing to me. I like that if I'm horny they're usually ahead of me. It challenges me to keep up. I like that they can physically overpower me but that the men I've known don't use that strength against me.

And god yes I love penis!

To try to describe what I like about men is like trying to describe a hug. Some are cold and a total waste of time, but many make you feel treasured, safe and loved.

The following are all based on generalizations:

I value a sense of humour, analytical problem solving, the ability to move on and not wallow or stew about things you can't change, strength (internal and external), ambition balanced with contentment with what they have, obsession with sex and women, drive, honesty, saying what they mean

...Okay the more I think about this, the more I feel I have no idea why I like men...I just do.

A huge part of it is the boredom factor. I think the differences make the world an interesting place.

I have loved the company of men all my life, beginning with my father and brothers. I have known very fine, real men throughout my life but had none of them as lovers or husbands (let me simply say that I’ve enjoyed the potential of men). I love virility and masculinity, but not machismo. I love a man’s body, not necessarily buff or fit, just so it’s not like a woman’s. I love not being a man, i.e., not having a clue how they think or why they act as they do, or what they feel. If a man cares about me deeply, or truly loves me, how he expresses it or shows it is what makes him a man for me—no woman can do this like a man. If I love a man, what I can do for him, or show him, is just about the most fulfilling mutual experience I can have with another person (and it always astonishes him); I can’t do that with a woman, not even with the closest of friends.

I don’t know that I’ve said anything very concrete here. My love for men is part of my identity, not a philosophy or something to be articulated very well. I won’t go into the kind of man I like or body parts, etc. Mostly it has to do for me with masculinity, a particular intelligence, and how a man might match the woman that I am. I never thought I would meet a man to match me; I am always hopeful, but it is not such a requirement for my happiness as it once was.

I like them best in bed...

When they're under me, looking up, and marveling at just how wonderful I am to let them lay there while I do all the bouncing up and down while they are tied to the bed this time.

Okay, upon further thought, I also like when they are on top, and I am the center of their sexual attention.

Oh hell, I love their penis's too. I just wish that they could be housebroken before they leave home.

All of the men that are near and dear to me I love, respect and admire. To name but a few, there's my wonderfully amazing husband, Adam; my adorable Dad; my brilliant brothers, and my close friends and confidents, Mike and a geezer called Graham.

All of the men I am close to have a lot in common. They are open, warm, trustworthy, honourable, fun, loving, intelligent and they know how to treat women well.

I am incredibly close to my younger brother, we talk for hours on the phone about anything and everything. He lived in the same town as me his entire life, until he moved 100 miles away to be with his girlfriend at the beginning of this year. I miss him terribly, but we talk a lot. They are getting married next year and they've asked my daughters to be bridesmaids and me matron-of-honour. I love my bro.

I am still passionately in love with my husband after 9 years of marriage. He makes me happy, it's as simple as that. We do have a lot of shared interests, which sure helps a lot. Oh, and our sex drives are sky high. :D

As for men in general, I get on with most men I know far better than I do with most women I know (please note: I said 'most'). I find men to be more straightforward, less uptight, far less concerned with how others perceive them, easier going, less two-faced, not nearly as bitchy, in my opinion they have a better sense of humour, oh and better for a shag (but that's just personal preference).

I must add a disclaimer: there are also some very special women in my life, and I get a different kind of closeness from them.

Lou

P.S. Talking of special men, and in particular my hubby: it's Adam's birthday today (22nd). :D

Happy Birthday Sweetheart! I love you.
