cat...and other pets?

Laurel...I'm curious...is that your cat or just a picture of a cat you like?

Word on the streets is your a big cat lover?

Lay it on me!

That's my kitty Aiko! She's only 4 months old in the photo - she's 2 1/2 years old now. Isn't she sexy? More baby pics of here are here:

I also have another kitty - a rescue named Owen (after Owen Wilson - I dig him). His momma abandoned him in our backyard because he had 4 deformed legs. He outgrew much of his problems and is able to walk, though he still has trouble with his back legs. I don't have any new pics of him, but here are some kitty photos of Owen and his brothers (both of whom were adopted out):

I lived with a ghetto cat once, her name was salome, but we called her ghetto fabulous.

It's a weird story, but since you were kind enough to ask I'll bore you with it. :D I grew up with dogs, and used to think cat people were freaks. Then I moved into an area that bordered a row of greenhouses. There was a large population of feral cats that lived, bred, & died in the area around the greenhouses. A couple of them started hanging out in my backyard. I fed them, and adter a while we became friends. I eventually adopted Aiko through a friend of mine. She was to be my only cat, so I thought.

Then the mom cats who I fed began to leave their sick/deformed/dying kittens on my porch. To date, we've nursed to health & adopted 6 or 7 kittens. We also began trapping & spaying/neutering the ferals to help with the problem. Owen was one of three kittens the mom rejected. We decided to keep him after deciding it would be difficult to place a kitten with such deformities. When we found him, he was two weeks old and completely unable to walk. His legs were curved inward. Over time, they straightened out and he began walking - shortly after we decided to keep him, coincidentally. :) His back legs are still a little...weird, and not entirely straight. He makes pained sounds sometimes when he jumps. That said, I'm impressed that he can get around at all. He's a trooper!

I like cats, but I'm not a total loop cat person. I don't own cat calendars, sweatshirts, or windchimes. I've always dug animals. Cats are very intelligent and excellent pals.

Aiko is just beautiful...i love them when they're that age...I can't help it...I love cats...Al of them are just awesome!

I had two...my Baby Luvalotte unfortunately passed away last year at 13 years of age due to cancer and it still kills me...i did everything i could to make her as comfortable as possible...and oh i miss my little Baby...she wasn't so much my pet as an extension of me.

Miss Jam I stole from a scummy go nowhere grunge band. A girl i know gave the bass player a kitten becouse she had a crush on him...and these guys decided to name her "Lucifer" and attempted to dread her fur...and shes a siamese/calico shorthair mix...so i stold her. At first i was planning on finding her a home but she sorta grew on me. Her full name...Miss Pooper Jam.

I've been planning on getting a new kitten..the Jammer really needs the company but its hard finding a "single" kitten...most places in Manhattan only adopt out in pairs and I can't even get past the "but, but, but I allready have a cat"

And Salome is indeed fabulous!

This is my fave pic tho:

Doesn't bore me at all

I agree...but and although i don't have all the little kitty nik naks...I am a stoopid cat person who insists on cuddlefests and speakingings in kittenish with the little toms!

(I used to take lots of psychedelic drugs...)

Cute Story: My older sister used to breed long hairs (and Jerome is just a babe) so she had males and females...and then she had her cat Perry...a fixed smokey himalayan...so she goes and buys a really expensive champion stud by the name of sebastian.

Turns out these boys had athing for each other...the females would go into heat,do thier little thing and sebastian just would not have it...althpugh it seems perry enjoys having him if you know what i mean...I love it...gay cats!

I think all of that is absolutely necessary - the cuddles, the kitten-english, even the prior use of psychedelic drugs. :D Makes it easier to understand the little critters!

We have adopt-able cats & kittens in the PetSmarts here. I tried getting them to take some of our feral kittens, but they always seem to have more cats than space. :(

I just have to show off my baby again. She's not a pussy, but she likes playing with them.

I'll post a side view first.

What a cutie! Pretty eyes... :)

When I lived back east, we had a bit of a stray population in my neighborhood. So I took to naming them, and occasionally feeding them since at the time my landlord would allow pets. There were 2 in particular that stick with me. One was a black cat who I think was just born under a bad sign was was beaten up by all the others. I called him Scabby. He always got first crack. The one which beat up Scabby the most was a white cat with a large black spot on the top of his head like some messed up toupee, and a small black spot under his nose. I called him Hitler.

The night in that neighborhood were filled with the sounds of "cat love" and I always wanted, but never got around to making a mockumentary of "Hookers on the point" but with grainy VHS footage of the cat love going on in the street every night, complete with bad voice over. I'm sure I can still do that somewhere in Hollywood. it just a matter of finding the right cats to document.

I think I have the right cats for you. One of them even has a snaggle tooth thing like that one chick in "Hookers..."

My cat's name is George. He is a white and grey long hair. He is also quite senile and is prone to batting at things that don't exist. He also tries to eat things that don't exist.

Our other cats include TARDIS, Z-13, Badass, Midget, and Kitling. I don't really like animals at all but I love my cat.

Laurel,

Your cat stories remind me of my mom, she did the same thing.

My mom loves cats, we had one old girl who was pretty territorial. She wouldn't let any new cats come around. As she got older, she didn't fight as much as she used to so all these strays started hanging around.

My mom couldn't bring them in ( because of our cat) so she would leave food out for them. When they got friendly enough, mom would take them to get spayed or neutered.

After our first cat passed on, we "adopted" two of the nicest strays. They are still with us. Whenever I go home, I am starting to see the some more strays hanging around.
