A police state.

Such naked authoritarianism should be anathema to real American patriots.

First, the truth is they do identify themselves, Second, there is no requirement for undercover officers or regular officers to move around in marked vehicles. Third, federal law can be enforced in anywhere under the jurisdiction of the United States. Suspects of federal crimes can be legally apprehended without a warrant by federal officers anywhere they are found without the permission of State or city officials or any notification of their presence to those officials in a given jurisdiction. You should probably take the time to read 40 USC 1315.

So if I put on military surplus field camo, taped the word "police" on it, I would have federal arrest powers? That seems unlikely.

I wonder why these cosplay soljers are terrified to admit which branch of the executive branch they purportedly work for? "Dept of Prisons! Yer under arrest!" doesn't have much gravitas, I suppose.

Not to mention I think they all know Trump will throw them under the bus if it were politically convenient.

I guess you'll just have to keep crying about it, won't you.

No. You be arrested for impersonating a federal officer and do hard time. Read 40 USC 1315. "Federal officer you're under arrest!" does have a more powerful pucker factor.

From what I've read it seems to be lawful. The pics I've seen they have "Police" on vests.
It's heavy handed but doesn't really seem like that big of a deal to me. I also think it's what you get for living in the northwest. We should pack up and leave it to the bigfeet. Or is it bigfoots? Sasqui?

My understanding is that these "officers" are refusing to identify themselves as state OR federal officers. They don't even announce "you're under arrest".

Very gestapo-like.

Shouldn t have been there in the first place

My sorry ass should t have been there in the first place. Is that any worse than
an unmarked Radar Patrol Car hiding to catch you speeding?

It's illegal

...and this is the stuff people arm themselves (2nd Amendment) over and guess who is so fucking quiet. Well, I'm ready.

Do they at least holler "Halt, in the name of the law!" and fire warning shots?

It is creepy when government offices send their federal police into the American
public square, and violent, militarized federal police forces are all anonymous.

This week, there are Trump's minions, throwing various justifications against the wall,
to see which of them might stick.

Hard to listen to a complete cunt of sell-out to Trump, telling the world that it is O.K.
to injure a citizen for life, because they sprayed removable paint on the surface of
building.

Most of the people around Trump have served Trump's election campaign, in some capacity.

Setting pretend para-military on US civilians makes headlines, that compete with coronavirus
and Black Lives Matter, and the attention given to the conflict waters down the impact
of scandals attached to Trump.

I’d say number 3, and number 6.

10 steps in the transition of open societies into closed regimes:

1. Invoke a terrifying internal and external enemy.
2. Create secret prisons where torture takes place.
3. Develop a thug caste or paramilitary force not answerable to citizens.
4. Set up an internal surveillance system.
5. Infiltrate and harass citizens' groups.
6. Engage in arbitrary detention and release.
7. Target key individuals.
8. Control the press.
9. Cast criticism as espionage and dissent as treason.
10. Subvert the rule of law.

Sadly, I think Trump would call it making America great again.

I wonder how the right wingers would have reacted if Trump had sent anonymous federal agents to Charlottesville and started snatching up some of those very fine people with white supremacy insignia, marching with tiki torches and chanting racist slogans.

The truly maddening thing is that these clowns try to pretend that all these angry protests are happening for no apparent reason.

"Their" America is such a fair and just place to live, that they can't wrap their heads around why anyone would be moved to civil disobedience.

I recommend they watch the Michael Douglas film "Falling Down".

People can only be pushed so far by the system until they start pushing back.

Treating people like they're exploitable and expendable is a sure fire way to provoke a societal backlash.

My understanding is, that's not true. They aren't wearing name tags, they aren't required to. They are not required to be in marked vehicles, local undercover cops aren't either. Their body armor is marked "police," they are informed they are federal officers at the point of arrest. The officer's names appear on their booking documents and they are taken directly to a federal magistrate. The arrests they make are only for federal violations of law, local police make all other arrests, or they stand down and do nothing as ordered by their superiors.

Just another "serious" charge by the hard Left
that is in actuality propaganda employed
to reenforce a deeply-held bias which
stems from the election loss and
which they never got over.

If you never get over it and never try to learn a lesson
it is not going to bode well for you moving forward.

In the greater world you ignore, the majority of people
have more animus towards rioters than police.
They want safety, not outrage...

Imagine, if you possibly can, the RWCJ outrage if Obama and Holder had pulled this crap. You do realize images of this stunt are being filmed for use in political campaign advertising, right? “Trump’s Militia saves America from Evil Protesters.”
