As I see it , we're talking about two basic notions, here. Tolerance and fear.

For me, another's orientation regarding their personal beliefs, does not become a problem for me unless it interferes with our relationship or until they try to force their beliefs on me.

Someone on the BB has asked about our attitudes toward lesbians. Mine is nuetral, as it is towards anyone who is different from me, unless prior cobtacts with them have raised the cautin flag for me. As a matter of fact, diversity of experiences and beliefs tends to make for interesting conversations and relationships.

Intolerance and fear will always be a glue that holds many groups of people together. That's just human nature. I really wonder what people are so afraid of??

:) i wonder who asked that question blue on the whole i was very happy for peoples remarks and for the way many of the people here "stuck up" for me

in some cases prejudices can create groups of people and make them stick together thats why many gays im sure do decide to goto marches and meetings ... but also a part of it is seeking out people that are alike to you not because your being forced to do that just because you choose too ... hehe for me though my girlfriend is the only lesbian i know though :)

some people have said that sexual orientation doesnt matter to them that they feel that people should just be with whoever they love ... this is alll well and good but sexual orientation does matter to me im a lesbian and it felt good when i admited that to myself (i was pretty young)

i guess what im saying is that we should accept different groups and we should welcome there differences ... we shouldnt say that creed, sexuality, or race dont matter .... because they do matter they can be a huge part of what makes a person who she/he is ... even if its just a small part it still should be welcomed and not ignored

ive never had any kind of prejudice perhaps some of this is beecause i am a lesbian and i knew i would face prejudice myself i would expect that gay people were less prejudice for this reason although i might be wrong ... me myself i have many male straight friends and straight female friends and black/indian/chinese friends :)

i'm a bisexual pagan. straights - no deal, unless they're homophobis, in which case i scare the shit out of them for fun... christians - unless they're trying to convert me, and saying i'll burn in a hell i don't believe exists, they're not that bad.

i have a great respect for people who are gay/les because they have to deal with a lot of shit, and i think it gives them more character and personality and makes them stronger. in my opinion they're cooler than straighties. *grins*

and sexy-gril is right, it does matter. it makes you more of a person if instead of ignoring someone's orientation, if you accept it, and respect it, and try to understand it, cause until you've tried it, you'll never know and you've got no room to talk.

I accept all ya'll the same as all ya'll accept me. Of course most of ya'll think I'm the Spawn of Satan or (insert your religious or athiestic equivilent here) because I'm a *gasp shock!* Republican and I actually admit with pride that I *faint dead away* voted for George Bush Jr.

No, this BB is highly tolerant of nearly everything under the sun except for mass murderers, rapists, and Republicans. Shame on you, equating me with a mass murderer and a rapist.

Also republican, have had the privilege of voting for 2 George Bushes in my time but was too young to vote for Ronnie

I tolerate almost any group..live and let live..

I like Democrats even...vote for Jay Rockefeller and Robert Byrd every chance I get, he will be the Democratic candidate for president next time if Bush falters (same thing they said about the 92 election...)

Intolerance is born most times of fear, fear that someone may just change your mind and turn your world upside down....intolerance is born of the struggle to remain consistent and trying to hide a weakness of conviction

The only people I dont like are people who dismiss people outright without listening or trying to argue with them even

Both the Republican and Democratic parties have their ideologues who play on fear and intolerance..for every Pat Robertson there is an Al Sharpton

I am not bleeding from any part of my body

hehe i never would of guessed rambling man and killermuffin were republicans from there views on other political threads honest :)

just kidding guys :)

i dont agree with you all the time sexy-girl, but you're still a sweetheart;) people should never mix political arguments with how they feel about others as people...if i did that I would have very few friends where I grew up

aww how sweet rambling man thankyou :) ... i agree totally gee theres alot of my enviromental views that my girlfriend doesnt agree with :) ... often people with different politcal views still agree on the same things anyway they just dont agree on the ways to carry them out :)

ive only been posting here for a few days really and ive been welcomed really well :) thankyou

hehe getting back to the point of this thread though ... i was brought up as a catholic and went to a catholic school ... some religous people can have a very unique compassion to everybody (like my late grandmother) ... but i guess there is going to be alot of christian and catholic's that would have a HUGE problem with me and because of that i would find it difficult to like them or respect them ... however i never would judge a christian or catholic before i met them and talked with them and found out what they were like

Speaking as a bi-curious, liberal, female, I look at people, not their sexuality, religion, race, etc. Life is too short to be judgmental. I have friends from every walk of life, of every religion & political point of view. Other people's sex lives aren't my business, I just hope that people are lucky enough to find someone to share their life with .

great thread Blue.
