I'm a VERY proud Canadian and i'm interested in how Americans REALLY view our country. Some seem to respect us, while I've heard others call us the "51'st state". Those bastards are lucky I wasn't around at the time...

Anyway what's your oppinion of our counrty? All viewpoints are welcome, incouding anti-Canadian rhetoric if you find it neccecary. I'm relly interested in how this thread turns out.

'they're bigger, and they're on top. if that was prison, america would be canada's bitch'

:nana:

It's cold and you live in igloos.:D j/k

Nah, I know a couple Canadians and they are cool in my book. Plus the women are hot!!:p :p ;)

I love Canada and I generally have a higher opinion of Canadians and the moral fiber of Canada than Americans in general. I grew up on the border, mine you.

I haven't heard Canada dubbed the 51st state.

We have Guam and Puerto Rico as the unofficial "51st and 52nd" states.

I have no worries of our neighbor to the north.

That might be true for the rest of the 48 contiguous states, but where I live Canada is on the bottom ... almost exactly due south.

Canada is a beautiful country full of lots of wonderful people and some not so wonderful people. Just like America, and every other place on Earth. Why would I think differently of somebody just because they're from another country? Borders are just imaginary lines on a map.

I grew up in Seattle and enjoyed trips up to Victoria B.C... I recently met a really hot Chinese girl who likes me and was raised in Canada, so I have to thank 'em for that. I guess I'd have to say I'm in favor of Canada. Remember, the Southpark song was meant facetiously.

Actually, I think most Canadians who saw the movie thought it was damn funny. Personally I loved "Blame Canada"!

As a Canadian I must say this, you never really know what you have until you let it go.

When I think of Canada I think of cold weather, snow, hockey, polar bears, and of course hot women.

Brothers and sisters to the north. I've only been to Toronto, but I really enjoyed that. It was particularly interesting to visit the different ethnic parts of town. I went to a Morroccan tent for dinner one night, a Ukrainian "Caravan" dinner/dance exhibition one night, a Turkish place and a number of other places that were wonderful.

I have to get to Montreal sometime. This is probably not the best time of year for a trip there though. I want to go to BC too, my parents go there all the time and really love it.

See, it's stuff like this that really bugs me. Okay the hockey, yes. Hell yes. God Yes. The women, yes, yes,, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes!

As for the cold weather, if you've been to Minnesota, you've been to 3/4 of Canada. It gets above 30 degrees celcius, or about 85 farenhieght in the summer.

I've NEVER seen a polar bear outside of a zoo. Did see a beaver walking down a highway one day, though!

Anyone care to trade Jean Chretien for Dubbya? He wouldn't be able to do as much damage in Canada given greater number of political parties and general common sense of the Canadian people.

Yes, Canada is truly blessed with it multiculturalism. The city of Edmonton, close to where I live, is especially diverse. There is a large east indian/pakistani/sri lankan community. We have a chinatown and a little italy. Rural Alberta is filled with Ukranian descendants. I could go on and on but I won't.

I feel sorry for people who live in a corner of the world where they don't get the exposure to other cultures like we are blessed with in Canada.

i've never been to Canada and haven't the slightest idea as to why people make fun of it or the people from there.

I like our President.

Canada would be my first choice if I ever left the US.

I have been there often and everytime I go, I am taken aback by how much things are different on each side of the St. Lawrence.

Then, to go to Quebec, and there is yet, a third culture.

So, I will make some general statements based only on my experiences:

1- Some of the most polite and considerate men I have known are Canadian.

2- The Canadians I have known seem to be a bit more conservative than I am, but are comfortable in those shoes.

3- The Canadian Government actually seems to take an interest in environmental up keep. Ontario, is by and large, one of the cleanest places I have visited.

4- Socialized health care is it's own wonderful thing.

5- Canadian politics completely baffle me!

6- It just seems that many Canadians who are employed are getting paid far less than their American brothers in the same position. I am not an economist, but that is sad.

7- The economy seems much more healthy than here, though.

However, where I live the economy has been in a tragic state for many years, and isn't to be compared to more suburban areas of the United States.

Anyway, I  Canada and her people.
