What brought y’all to Lit?

Hi General!

I want to start a fun conversation about how everybody arrived here. Personally, I’ve lurked on this site off and on for a while without an account. I am a novice writer and poet, but I have written and posted fan-fiction (including smut) elsewhere before. Recently, I wanted to branch out by writing my own original works, but the site I published on focuses more on fandoms instead. That’s why I joined here! I haven’t published anything yet, but I look forward to completing my first work/poem soon. I am new here, so I want to acquaintance myself in this awesome community through this thread.

I started on this site for purely selfish reasons: I want to write some sort of memoir but need to transition from my (extremely) media-focused mode of self-expression to a word-focused one.

So I post semi-random snippets from my earlier life as a cam girl and try to compose a textual narrative to support them. Eventually I hope to be able to remove the images and videos entirely and have the story stand on its own merits.

Got some ways to go yet!

Similar time frame for me. I had a creative writing teacher who recommended the site. I discovered that I find writing, written conversation so erotic. Then I discovered voice chat, voice notes… Good times

I wrote on and off for a very niche community over the years but there was always drama and tension that caused more and more fractures. Generally I stayed away from it - I just like to read and write stuff that's relatively tame, looking for decent quality and a bit more emotional insight than just endless descriptions of how hot, big-boobed and loud characters are*. But forums would disappear and blogs would get deleted and eventually it seemed like there was just nowhere to talk to anyone. I'm old and I miss forums where you actually can remember who you're replying to, and ultimately I want to develop an audience and exchange some thoughts on the kinds of things that end up in my stories.


*Not to say an author is bad at what they do if they focus on that, it's just not my wheelhouse.

If I recall correctly, I was feeling real horny after watching an episode of Gilmore Girls. I had never really read erotica before, decided to give it a shot, one quick Google search later and I ended up here.

What's funny is that on that day, I ended up only reading part of a Gilmore story and then found another story that I read in it's entirety while stroking.
