What Brings You Joy?
aka Learning More About Litsters' Passions
aka Hobbies, Pasttimes, and Fun

Let's learn more about each other. What do you like to do for fun? This thread is not for talking about sexual proclivities or serving/dominating - I'm talking about HOBBIES. Do you dance? Paint? Play softball? Go hiking? Knit? Play video games? Tell us about yourself!

I'm fairly geeky, myself...

I like to read (books,magazines,wikipedia...forums)
I like to play games...video, pc, ccg (magic the gathering, etc)...
I like to write (not so much stuff I would post here on Lit, but other stuff...)

Etc.

Taken from a similar thread not too long ago. ;)

Ummm I don't have a huge amount of hobbies but some things that give me the greatest joy are not particular pasttimes.

I used to work as a nurse for people with severe learning disabilities.
Sitting on the floor being dribbled on by someone who wanted to get to know me better is a joy that very little can match. They did not want to get to know me because of who I was, or what I said, or what money I had or any particular status I did or did not have; they did it because there was something about 'me' they wanted to know more about.
It is hard to explain, but it never failed to touch me in a very profound way. I don't miss the job itself but I do miss those moments of sharing a deep communication with someone who had to overcome enormous difficulties to make any of their needs known.

I love watching and listening to pre-school children play and talk. The way their logic flows from the strangest places. That ability to add ideas together to produce wonderful thoughts and ideas seems to disappear once they are at school and have to think in straight lines.

I love cleaning, if I am upset or low I find cleaning helps. I also enjoy it when I am full of energy and ready to tackle jobs I don't often do. I love knowing its perfect. That said, I don't always do it when it needs done. Its more a spur of the moment thing (or when my mother is about to visit  ).

I find joy in long journeys too. They are really good times for idle thinking and relaxing.

I am not an outdoors person and in general find little joy in being outside, over the years I have tried; but the closest I have come is after a summer storm I sometimes enjoy going for a walk.

My favorite things to do for fun are gardening, biking, and travel.

What about you, Etoile?

There are many things but

since we are on this site it is the joy of accepting the submission from a sub. It is having relevant conversations with her on her interests, my interests and our interests.
It is making a friend for life whether we meet in real time or not.
But finally, is the teaching of joy through submission by the sub.

Hate to get E mad so my hobbies include piloting my own airplane, flying to Florida to watch the Tigers train and finally working with children who have chronic breathing problems.

Baths. Bath's are the balm to my soul. I take them every night to help me sleep, even if I'm clean.

I'm sure their are other things that make me happy. But right now all I can think of is that big bottle of flexeral I have. I'll return to this post when the flexeral I took kicks in.

I soaking in a tub of hot, hot water and reading a book i'm really enjoying.

i like watching my rats.

i like movies.

my friends bring me the most joy, though. just being around them, even if we're not talking or doing much of anything.

Arr ;)

Okay, me...let's see where to start...well I make renasiance costumes (obviously spelling is not a hobby of mine ) I absolutely adore it. I do mainly courtly fashions, but I'm also the main one for men's costumes in the little shop that sells them for me. And kilts, tons of bloody kilts! I hate making those things, but they sell well and I do love it when the guys modle so like many things it's worth the pain in the arse for the joy it brings me later ;). And of course I have my own pirate wench costume...I think that's how I'll go to fair this year.

I also knit, crocet, read, write, play video games, love to cook, flower arranging, I actually like to do the deep cleaning like scouring the tub and such but hate organizing, love to swim and now the pool is open for the season :nana: jewery making, quilting, candle making, photography, oh yeah and making floggers and various toys to be used on me is a new found joy.....I have way too many hobbies.

I love the Texas Ren. Fest...

Which one do you go to?

I like to play with computers, mostly - I do a lot of stuff on the web, and I play games, too. I also like flatwater kayaking - which is what I did last night that prompted me to start this thread - and I have recently been geocaching. That's an activity you do with a GPS; it's kind of like a scavenger hunt. The coordinates are posted online and you put them in your GPS and go to that location. Once you are there you have to hunt for a little box (or other container) and when you find it, you sign a logbook inside to prove you were there. I like this activity because it's wild to think that there are thousands of boxes out there, right now, even as you are reading this...all just waiting to be found!

The Pub.

The Pub brings me joy.

All I need for a good time is my pet by my side, my friends across the table, a pint of Strongbow in front of me, and a game on the television. The Pub experience for me is one of utter contentment and bliss. I'm actually convinced that if the concept of heaven is our greatest most desires fulfilled, I hope to spend the rest of eternity in a window booth across from the bar and by the men's toilets.

What brings me joy?

Nothing, really.

What do I do for fun? That's a lot easier to answer.

I run a weekly role playing game (Superhero themed). It's quite entertaining, creating a comicbook story with six other people.

I photograph. A lot. I do some landscapes in color, and some architectural photography in black and white. It's amazing what you can do with a good 35mm camera, especially if you use it like a medium format (which is a bit down the road for me - next photography purchase is going to be an 8+ megapixel digital SLR camera - I'm still socking away money for one, and doing the comparison shopping)

I'm helping a friend with his filmmaking ambitions - he's doing no-budget horror short films, with volunteer cast and crew. Unfortunately, he actually casts me in these things. Mostly, I do lighting for them, though.

I write. Badly, and not as often as I should, considering "Author" was one of my career ambitions growing up.

Reading - SF, mysteries, vampire fiction, history
Movies - SF, action/adventure, mysteries, comedies
Gaming - Computer (Half-Life and HL2, Counter-Strike), LARPs (Live-Action Role Playing), used to do table top RPG's and miniatures but got out of that about 7 - 8 years ago.

Listening to Music - Rock, Jazz, Classical
Going to RenFests/Faires (been to ones in Texas, Georgia, North & South Carolina)
Online message boards and chats.

Yes, I freely admit that I'm a geek and have been for decades!

I collect pirate stuff. Snowy tells me I must've been one in a former life. I told her Catholics don't really believe in reincarnation and she goes "Aye Matey!".

I'm also a foster parent at the RSPCA, and I sort of specialize in infant puppies, because I've had good luck with them. I've done well with infant cats, too; my Fuzzy Guys were two-ish weeks old when I found them. But they don't like other cats very well, so we just do puppies. For some reason, they both like dogs....

I like the way you asked this question Etoile!

Joy, what brings me joy?

Hmm . . .

My pussy when she purrs and loves on me. Her fur is soooo soft, her head butts, and caresses are so sweet. Her weight on my body is just purrr-fect too. :cathappy:

The ocean, the way it sounds, looks, feels and yes, even smells, just touches my soul like my pussy (above) does.

My kids at times. When I see them sleeping and without daily cares on their peaceful faces. When they hug me or do something nice for another or feel really good about themselves and their own accomplishments. There are a lot of times that bring me joy with them. I feel great joy that I've been able to raise them so far with more calm and far less violence than I feared I would be able to do. That makes me feel good cause I was REALLY scared of what I'd do before having them.

My husband, when he looks into my eyes and says something so incredibly sweet, sexy or loving that it breaks my heart and I feel like, once again, he is this magical miracle because somehow he is in my life at all. I love watching him sleep too. I love looking at his skin, his face, his ass, legs and back. He almost always kicks all the covers off so I get quite the view.

My job, when the audiences enjoy what I'm doing and the energy flows between us is a high that I'm totally addicted too.

My online Dom, when I can talk with him, do things for him or with him, it makes me so happy. Even better when it makes him happy (which always surprises me) my soul nearly goes nova in bliss.

Scenes and Sex, which for me, so far go hand in hand quite delightfully. There is little that is better for me than a good scene with some major pounding and fucking somewhere in it and which makes HIM happy.

Writing a good story either with someone, or alone but appreciated by others, just gives me such pleasure it's hard to explain it.

When I have a vision for something and I am able to make it happen and it turns out to be so right.

Role playing as in table top, D&D, Vampires, Werewolves and other sorts just sends me into to other worlds that I enjoy the fantasy of.

Reading books that are good, entertaining and which also send me into other worlds however real or unreal they may be is a wonderful thing.

Hanging with friends and if they are the sort of friends that make you feel really accepted and loved, just letting the stress melt away and breathing.

Watching TV or Movies that again, take me to real or unreal worlds that I find entertaining.

Listening and dancing to "my" music wherever and whenever I want. :D

Sending out invoices and getting checks back. LMAO! Yep I find that joyful, but why do I never, ever have enough deposit slips???

Eating exactly the perfect food at the perfect time in the perfect amount. Damn! I used the dreaded P word three times. The other day I ate a banana after forgetting to eat all day. It was just the exact right firmness and sweetness and the only thing I needed. Eating it was like a full blown orgasm I swear!

There is more, but for now, that is enough or perhaps, too much.

Fury :rose:

Reading.....love to bury my head in a thick historical or horror novel.

Watching crime dramas on TV, like CSI, Law and Order and the spin offs. I also like medical dramas but Master Gil makes me tape them and watch them by myself, He reckons He sees enough of hospital in r/l :)

We got a DVD player (6 months ago) and am enjoying catching up on all the movies I have missed at the theatres. And box sets of TV series like The L Word, Star Trek, Sopranos and Carnivale....yes please! :)

Playing mah jong on the computer....keeps me amused while Master Gil watches the footy (not soccer, but rugby and rugby league) and motor racing (including bikes).

Shopping.....not that I buy much, I just like to look. Book shops and music stores mainly. I have music on while I'm on the computer, I've always loved rock music :)

Speedway racing (dirt track) is Master Gil's passion and I have come to love it too since we have been together. We go to every meeting during the summer so that cuts our weekends out from September to end of April. The smell of ethanol and dirt, the noise of the engines and the excitement and danger of the crashes (and there are several sometimes on each race night). Watching it on TV is nowhere near as exciting as being there! :D Master is a member of the crash crew so we get in for free :nana:

I asked my husband what brings him joy.

He said Food, Sex, sometimes the Kids, his Cat, Sports and I don't exactly remember what
else since he didn't mention me. When I told him I was left out, he said I WAS the sex. *shakes head and laughs*

Fury :rose:

I forgot one thing that brings me joy: Hello Kitty. I love Hello Kitty.
