What are your favorite books and authors? I read a great deal and am curious to know what other people read.
I just finished Portrait of A Serial Killer: Jack the Ripper, Case Closed by Patricia Cornwell.

John Grisham, Jonathan Kellerman, John Sandford, Patricia Cornwell, too many to mention.

Just finished Grisham's THe Summons and now reading The Viking Funeral by Stephen J. Cannell.

Anything by Edward Rutherford. Now if he would just submit a book more often that every 10 years.

I really liked Jean Auel.

I read John Grisham and Patricia Cornwell too.

I love fantasy and sci fi so when i have time to read it ism ore often than not a book from that genre. My favourite Authors are Terry Pratchett,David Gemell, Piers Anthony and Tom Holt.

I devour books with as much gusto as I go for sex...classics, modern, foreign, of course some cheesy romance now and then.

Picking a fav would be like sticking to one sexual position...impossible! I can pick an author or two...

L.M. Montegomery- for masterful expression

Terry Prachett- for pure satirical hilarity

John Steinbeck- for amazing human insight

Michael Chrichton- for eyeball gripping excitement

Nora Roberts
Johanna Lyndsey... well there are amore but you get the picture.... all of 'em girly books.

Anything by Chris Bohjalian or John Grisham. I just started The Summons by Grisham.

Trans-Sister Radio is my favorite by Bohjalian.

annie

Never EVER Danielle Steele. I don't like mushy romances or bodice rippers.

Mystery/Murder/Horror/Cop-Lawyer stories.

Ditto! I love Pratchett, also David Eddings, Terry Brooks, Isaac Asimov, Douglas Adams, Harry Harrison etc. I also like Tom Clancy and Agatha Christie, Jean Auel was good as were the few Grishams I've read...I read lots of different types of books when the reading bug strikes. It depends on my mood.

You sound like me. I read Blackwood Farm-Anne Rice in less than 3 days.

Forgot Ann Rice! Mary Stewart - writes about King Arthur and Merlin..awesome books.

Jean Auel's Earth Children series was phenomenal.

Would you recommend it? I enjoy Anne Rice but have only read about 3 of her works.

Mutiny on the Bounty (unabridged) took me 3 hours. I read faster than I can talk by about 5 times.

If you like tales of witches and vampires, that yes I would recommend them to you. But I must cation you to read them in order because the story evolves through the books. It's hard to make sense is you start in the middle.

I will definately take that advice. It is frustrating to read out of order
It's the same with Patricia Cornwells' books, they have to be read in order as well. So do Kathy Riechts'

and did you find it good? she lost it a lot in her last books, Merrick wasnt so bad but very far from her good old books.

Julliet Marillier did a trilogy based on the fairy tale of the seven swans, seven brothers that was very well done. You may enjoy those

Blood and Gold was very good, and so was Blackwood Farm.

I read in spurts. I have to be careful because once I get started I won't put a good book down. So after a reading spurt I usually take a break.

I read a variety and don't tend to follow one author.

Books I can think of enjoying in the last year would be D.H. Lawrence's "Lady Chatterly's Lover" and Joyce Carol Oates' "With Shuddering Fall."

Of a more modern flavor was Joseph Skibell's "A Blessing on the Moon." This was a mind-disturbing tale from the pov of a dead man during the holocaust. It stayed with me for a while.
