There is a reason I ask this here, it's because this forum reaches
large parts of the world and various cultures.

What works for me is hot Bovril. I'm sure it's available in other places,
maybe under different names.

I put black pepper in it. A few mugs of it and my shivers go.

It's pointless going the docs, there's not much they can give you,
and antibiotics don't attack a virus.

Is ginger root any good?

I don't get colds and since I've gotten into the habit of getting a flu shot every year haven't had the flu in many years.

Same here. My "flu remedy" is getting the annual influenza vaccine, as well as a pneumonia vaccine, and I haven't had the flu or any form of respiratory virus for over a two decades.

I think my diet and fitness regimen may have something to do with warding off the common cold as well.

I'm not much for folk and "homeopathic" remedies because....SCIENCE !!

Rare for me to get sick. Ill admit I am the worst patient. I hate being sick. That being said. I am always current on Flu vaccine. I also use plenty of hand sanitizer. I believe in First in First Out.Germ a fobe speak and food speak. Rotating food, cabinets.

I find a tea of ginger root, lemon and honey helps me feel better.

drink your favorite alcoholic beverage to excess, pile every blanket you own on the bed and climb in. you'll sweat the illness out and feel amazingly better.

Well my solution is :
Practice any sports to sweat and then a long night in your bed under warm blankets

Guillotine.

Single application mid way between chin and shoulders.

Guaranteed permanent end to all colds and flus.

Buckley's and Chicken Noodle Soup ;):)
Buckley's is good. There are other ACV remedies with turmeric, ginger and garlic(Your Fired Cider). Black elderberry syrup is one of the few alternative remedies that has been exposed to scientific study and shown effectiveness for boosting immunity. I make my own. I get the dried berried on Amazon and i boil them down. I add cinnamon and honey. There are lots of recipes.

I don't have a real remedy in mind. I take some preventive measures. Try to eat balanced meals, an occasional chicken noodle soup. Don't take showers when it's cold in the house. Limit your time outside when it's cold and rainy. Drink lots of fluids like water or OJ.

1st sign of a cold or flu, I get some theraflu. Still drink lots of water and OJ. Eat peppered chicken soup. Some vitamin B in pill or liquid form is helpful. Vitamin B is good for the immune system.

Last year I was taking Vitamin B shots for energy and to help my immune system. Good for aging people like me. As I age, my body is losing it's ability to naturally produce Vitamin B. Last month was my 1st flu shot since I was a kid.
