Thanks for the answers in advance. *smiles*

I keep re-reading this but still can't make sense of it. As that's the case my response would probably be something along the lines of:

huh?

This happens to me quite often. It just proves to me that most people think we're supposed to be a sort of "walking stereotype" that's easy for them to identify. Most of my straight male friends didn't have a clue to it. So, when they found out I was gay, the look or expression on their face was worth a Kodak moment!
I take no offense to it, though. I actually find it amusing in a way. So, what am I thinking when this happens?
"Here we go again..."

Most straight people have the gaydar equivellent of a divining rod for finding water (you know the two pronged stick people used to wander around with looking to dig wells). When people say that to me I usually respond with "Well I guess it's a good thing you're straight."

confusing...

well, i'm bi, and people never find it much of a shock, or rather if they do it's because they thought i was a lesbian - this surprises me quite a bit because generally the reason for that suspicion around here is the butch look which i most definitely do not embody, however most people just witness my openness and target me as a lesbian, which in some small measure offends me because i hate how narrow-minded people are regarding affection - and i've veered quite off topic, but primarily, people are more shocked into thinking that i don't appear by any means even a tiny measure straight, so quite the opposite if that makes any sense at all!

I am a little tired of hearing it. Yes, I look very fem, but my latest girl picked up the vibe right away, and that made me go crazy for her. I get tired of always having to be the one who has to make the first move.

I just thank them and move on. I see no reason to correct them or to try to hurt them with a sarcastic reply, it would serve no useful purpose and do nothing but reinforce any negative opinions they already have of gays.

The ones I love are the women who say "Oh, you simply must meet my son, I'm sure the two of you will get on splendidly." As if their ugly half bred whelp of a son could change me.....

Was my mom drinking again? I apologise.

That's a shame. I'm sure your derisive comments about thier ethnic background would just charm the pants off them.

I've never been told this directly, but I've heard people say that to others sometimes. It makes me disappointed, mainly because it encourages the stereotype that there is a certain "look" to a bisexual or homosexual person. There is no "look". It's a sexual preference. The most masculine, tough looking guy could be a sub in the bedroom, you wouldn't know. Or the most gentle flower could be a bitchy dominatrix, but she's not going to go around wearing PVC and carrying a whip into a boardroom meeting. (Well, usually. ) Only sometimes to do people incorporate their sexual preference into their look and their lifestyle.

I have heard that alot. It used to offend me but I have learned that most people don't REALIZE how that comment SOUNDS.

(I always thought of it as someone informing me that I didn't LOOK bi-racial. How many people know how a multi-ethnic person is supposed to look?)
