What Are You Listening to Now 7.0

It's been added to the "must research" list - thanks.

Nice to see you here!

Considering my recent Marillion woes, that's a seal of approval from me. Gotta check them out.

Never heard of them, but since everybody seems to be on board, I may give them a try.

I still think y'all should, check out Pray For Sound though. Monophonic if nothing else:

Did my research: Chaneton is an Argentinean band formed in 2000 known for sounding like early Marillion and Genesis largely do to the singer. The bassist and guitarist remind me of Trewavas and Rothery while the keyboardist reminds me more of Tony Banks. They have three studio albums and one live tribute album to Marillion and Genesis.
I've listened to the first two studio albums and enjoy them a lot. Bandcamp has the first two albums. I'm tracking down the third studio album, and I'm very curious of the live tribute album. I'd love to hear these guys do "Lavender" or " Sugar Mice. "
Happy music playing/listening

Cinema Show II: Tributo a Genesis

Chaneton

low and behold, got an email that this has just been added to Bandcamp.
Yay! Apparently, Cinema Show was originally a double album, both from live performances - one album of Marillion and the second of Genesis. Bandcamp has the second album covering Genesis. These are great covers of early classic Genesis. Very well done. I hope they re-release the Marillion album soon.

Burning Down the House - Talking Heads

And for our dearly departed...

Sharp Dressed Man - ZZ Top

Pearl Necklace - ZZ Top

ZZ Top has been on tour recently with Dusty Hill's last performance on July 18th. Watching videos of the show, he spent a lot of time leaning on an amp stack.
He was taking time off since then to heal "hip problems" with long time ZZ Top guitar technician Elwood Francis replacing him.
After Hill's death, ZZ Top announced they would continue touring with Francis on bass. The show must go on. Hill hasn't missed a show in 51 years.

Sad news.

Sombras Distantes

Chaneton

Bandcamp now has all three studio albums of Chaneton as well as half of their live albums. This album is their third and latest from 2010. Unlike the first two in English this is in Spanish. While I still hear the Marillion and early Genesis influence it's much less direct. I like it a lot. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that the label will release the Marillion tribute live album on Bandcamp.
