and I don't mean food!

What are you hungry for? What do you desire? What do you want?

Do you feel that where you're heading in life is where you want to be...or did you get steered in a different direction?

I'm not talking about marriage...or your employment, either...

I am talking about the one thing...one thing that you hunger for.....

What is it and do you intend to go out there and get it before it's too late?

Brat!

You know what I mean....

It doesn't have to be sex!!!
I didn't even mention sex!

My deepest desire is to meet you in person! Of course it would help if you were dressed as you are in your AV or even less, as I will have my camera with me.

You hunger for alone time? Ok.

Hmmm...

But what about when you close your eyes at night...and that one thought comes to your mind.

Hmmm...too difficult to pin down just one. So I will qualify with an adjective.

I am, first and foremost, driven to be the best. The best in my profession, the best civic leader, the best father, the best family man, the best teacher, the best student, and the best lover. (the last needs practice). Passion drives me, merriment accompanies me, success measures me.

And your hunger, Honey?

I don't know. When I close my eyes at night, I have a sense of saddness within me.

I know I try my best, such as yourself to be the best....Although sometimes I do feel that that is not enough.

Yet, I can't place my finger on what it is I want or hunger for.

When we are younger, we all have visions of what we'd like to be "when we get older"...and those dreams can be attained if you try.

But we are older now. Paths have been chosen. But sometimes I feel like something is missing.

So as an answer to your question, I really don't know. I know it's there....but I can't see it yet.

Yes, we grow older, but i believe that growing older grants you the independence and tools to fullfill our dreams. I see everyday as a focused instrument moving forward on my journey. I live with intensity and passion...and, truth be told, I hope I never stop dreaming. But I know what I want, most of the time. There are exercises (mental, you health nut) that can help crystalize and prioritize your dreams, darlin'. Let me know if you want them.

I understand what you are saying. But I also think that there are those of us who might not have that ability (whether it's monetarily or independence) to be able to achieve that one thing we soooo long for.

I chose to exercise.... That helps not only develope my body...but get rid of my frustrations!! :p

Hone-- oh. Wait. Wrong hunger. :D

i was actually discussing this with a friend last night. i haven't had any dreams for a long time because of circumstances, but we finally figured out that what i REALLY want is something of my own. Something that nobody else helped me to get. Something really substantial - a house, or soemthing similar to that. All bought and paid for by my own sweat and tears, and nobody else's.

YES!! Thank you, Ent....

It's a hunger for your INDEPENDENCE! But more...to be able to stand on your own...

I hope you get this, hon...I really do....

Thank you.

i think it's more standing on my own, and being able to say I DID THIS! and mean it. Not quite so much independence. Already have far too much of that for most people's tastes.

Good luck in finding yours, and reaching your goal. You've got enough moxy to do it.

:)

I think maybe that's what I need to be searching for...moxy...or at least the strength within myself to be able to "STOP...this is me...and this is what I want!"

Perhaps I hunger for the ability to state my feelings fully...correctly...and with conviction.

Oh, you've got it. It's just putting aside what everybody else thinks and just doing it that's the hard part.

Beauty, and the capacity to create it. My consuming desire is to produce a work of deep and lasting beauty. I have no idea if I have that in me, but I do have a plan in place to try. It will require some patience, but with luck not too much longer.

Somewhere, you see, deep in my heart, I have wholly swallowed the decadents' message of beauty. It is beyond all physical things. I will abandon myself to it the moment I get the chance.

That's the most difficult of all hungers - a hunger for direction. I think it's the most painful, because one has no idea how to fulfill it. I wish you the best in discovering your answer. Sometimes it takes time.

The ancient old Marxist in me does wish to add this: I think Marx right in saying that the central thing all humans crave, at heart, is productive labor. I know it sounds odd to choose that over romance or passion or even wealth, but I think he's right; without producing anything useful or good or pleasing, one has no impact on anything and no sense of accomplishment. When I felt the need for direction, I started there - with the question "What good thing can I make or create?" and from there to "What would I like to accomplish?" It may not serve everyone, but it did well for me.

Most people haven't crystalized their wants. E.g....ask ppl if they want to retire. Most will say yes. Now ask them what they will do if they retire and take their current financial resources out of the picture, not just the first couple of months, but for the scope of their retirement. Where would they live? What type of dwelling? Would they travel? How (car, boat, plane, rv)? What would they do for enjoyment and recreation? What type of car?

Essentially, I've found that it's not that people stopped dreaming, they just lost defining their dreams. Like dreams, we wake up and begin to lose the details unless we write them down. sheesh...now I feel like I'm lecturing...forgive me, darlin'.

Entitled~<hugs> I hope you get it, darlin'. And enjoy the journey.

Darlin', you are confident and aggressive. It's part of what we admire about you...well, that and that gorgeous behind!

i'll get there eventually. It will just take time... Even have the first few steps tentatively planned out. Yay!

What you're talking about may not be like a dream, though. Using your example: Retirement would be like becoming a princess for little girls. (Cheesy, generic, but it works.) The difference is that when somebody is little, they have the imagination and patience to come up with all the details. As people age, patience with dreams wears thin. The ability to come up with all of the imaginative things that it can take to achieve those dreams is taken away, one step at a time. It starts early - even as early as elementary school, with learning by rote. All the rules and being taught not to question the hows and whys of things happening.
