I got all my kids shit out of the way. Everything they wanted, they got. My daughter make me a card every year, so that's probably the only thing I get. Unless I treat myself. So what about you? What are you getting and or giving?

Got my girl a new ipad air2 and a little tabletop pirate chest filled with 100 ounces of silver. 50 Maples, 10 Eagles, 10 Rounds, some 1-10 oz ingots and miscellaneous fun stuff like a 3.5 oz skull.

I'm doing some baking for SO and got a few other things I think he'll love. I can't wait to give them to him. Waiting is killing me a little bit. Kid is getting some zombie stuff (webkinz and finger puppets and a book), a small air hockey table, another bat cave. I'd like to get him lego dimensions. I don't really expect stuff for myself. I just want to buy for everyone.

Sounds like a lot. Lucky girl.

What's a bat cave?

I ask to get nothing for Christmas, and most people respect this. I'd rather see a friend for coffee or a meal when we both have time.

G and I give each other a stocking filled with treats, I know there is a pair of earrings from a past collection at anthropologie in mine, and some measuring spoons. Because I put them in his watch list on ebay for him to buy for me. ( for the shared account worriers.....yes....he holds the ebay account, and the amazon account, I access both freely) . For obvious reasons I cannot yet say what is in his stocking. :).
Coffee? People go out for coffee?

My Christmas shopping is done and it's only the 7th of December!

This has to be a first.

I've had a very good year, and my family and loved ones should be pretty happy with their gifts.

It's not about being lonely, Some people just don't. For example, some don't for religious reasons, I don't for personal reasons. It doesn't mean I am opposed to gifts completely, or other for a of showing fondness. But I don't see benefit in buying something for the point of buying something because it should be bought because of time of year: which for many is what these occasions have become.

I'd rather see something that is perfect for someone and send it to them as a 'happy random Thursday at the end of February' gift, or spend time with them and buy them something they would like but are dithering over, or go halves with them on it. Similarly, while I am grateful to be in the thoughts of some one, I don't really want a gift set of something bought in a panic of affection but lack of clarity.. I know that's ungrateful, but its honest. I would genuinely rather spend some time with them and have a giggle.

This. You're such a good read, Elle.

I'm giving the gift of my company and flying home.

Mine is all done - water wells again this year as the main gifts, and a couple of smaller bits for special people that I have collected throughout the year.

I am doing the gift of 4 this year:
Something you want
Something you need
Something to wear
Something to read.

Oldest gets:
1st row 5 Seconds of Summer tickets
Hot Topic gift card because she needs tshirts
I'm making her One Direction sleep pants
Binge by Tyler Oakley

Youngest gets:
Super cool expensive radio control car thingie
UGGS house slippers because we have wood floors and his feet get cold
Sweatshirts
Haven't decided on the book yet, probably something to do with WWII

The Ginger gets:
More clamps for his woodworking projects
I haven't decided yet because he just says me so that's not very helpful.
New jeans
A fine woodworking magazine subscription.

Everyone else is getting handmade gifts: sugar scrubs, pesto from my basil crop, my bestie gets a hot apron as well as my sister. I'm making some pj pants too for a few people I know are always cold.

I forgot my mother-in-law: she just wants time with us so Christmas night we are going to have a movie night with cookies, popcorn, hot chocolate, and a roaring fire. I can't wait.

Sounds like a really nice Christmas!

Hmm

I recall recently talking with Elle about this but this year it's the best sheets in the world and big plates of no bake chocolate peanut butter cookies. I wanted everybody I love to experience them. Other gifts too but cozy was on my mind this year.

I'm with you on this. I don't have the patience to wait for a holiday or birthday when I find something I want to give to someone. Christmas is for the munchkins.
