The world at large can well afford to let Russia have Ukraine, the PRC have Taiwan, and a nuclear-armed Iran is at least as tolerable as a nuclear-armed NK (they'll never nuke Israel, because everybody knows, even if Israel won't admit it, that Israel has its own nukes and can strike back).

There was nothing else he could have done under the circumstances that would not have been insane. The USSR had its troops in all those countries, and the American forces in Europe did not have the strength to fight them -- to say nothing of the political optics of starting a war with an ally the moment the previous war had been won.

And America certainly should never make it our business to defend Christendom from godlessness.
