What are some sexy, dark fantasy creatures BESIDES VAMPIRES?

I want to write a story that involves a dark fantasy creature as the main sexual interest, but am having a hard time coming up with anything besides vampires (or werewolves), which have been so overdone at this point in my opinion. Because the creature needs to be dark, that excludes things like mermaids and elves. And because the creature needs to be sexy (since it is the main sex/love interest in the story), that excludes unsexy dark creatures like trolls. Thank you all for your help!

You could go with "fallen angels" they would appear as attractive people.

Not sure if you would consider them 'creatures' but witches can work as well.

You could invent your own fantasy creature? If you're creative enough.

Or you could look up some Norse, Greek, Roman, Celt etc. mythology for inspiration.

One day, I'll do a perversion of the Mabinogion.

Gargolyes and Satyrs-at least traditional ones- aren't "sexy"

Warlocks are interesting, not a lot done with them.

And Julian Sands played a damn good one.

I suggest WILL-O-THE-WISP: Fairie spirits who lead good people astray, in the dark because the dark is when they operate. A jack-o-lantern is their light to see and be seen.

Put your own spin on a vampire/demon hunter? They might have slight supernatural powers through artifacts or ritual. Play with motivations. Revenge killing? Professionals? Altruism?

Demons, djinn? A sexy dangerous djinn that will kill their master/mistress as soon as they can get the master/mistress to use all of the wishes? Sort of a battle of wits meets a search for legal and supernatural loopholes.

An oracle? Weakened or disabled somehow (blindness, vision seizures, migraines, brain tumor, etc.) Can use them as a plot device to fight some other powers, or make a narrative about how they are afraid of seeing their own future? An element that needs to be protected by a more powerful character? A prophecy hanging over their heads?

A winged character (gargoyle, winged vampire [a returned-to-roots-bat-vampire], fallen angel, dark angel, nephilim, seraphim, wind spirit) with a broken or dislocated wing that needs to hide/recover/escape from their society. You could play with them being more modern, or more archaic. (i.e. Jack Frost in a hoodie vs Jack Frost in a cloak) OR even have them be predatory, but denying their need to kill (contract/hunger/desire/obligation to kill) in return for medical attention/sex.

Shadow people. I actually just heard about this one. Apparently they're this urban myth type thing in France and parts of Europe where there is supposed to be dozens of mysterious beings living in our cities that you can only glimpse out of the corner of your eye as a shadow, or a man made of shadow. Maybe your main character is blinded in an accident or purposefully blinded by a psycho ex/psycho fan/psycho stalker. Then they can see the shadow people, and you basically have a license to make the shadow people be whatever you want.

Celtic mythology is filled with supernatural beings (not just leprchauins (sp?)) that are fantasic there's many types and subsets that most people have never heard of.

But always rock-hard. Especially gargoyles...

Anyway, how about a hot ghost?

Or a sexy zombie... you never go wrong with zombies.

Or maybe a lamia? She's a really good squeeze...

Of course there is also the Harpy.... nice and fluffy... a little hard on the carpets though...

On a serious note, if you do your research, some accounts say that the Lamia was a hermaphrodite, so you could have some fun with a transsexual and Crossdresser's story.

I didn't know, but yeah - ophiophobia and homophobia in one and the same character. Definitely a monster with possibilities :)

As far as research goes, I'm must shamefully confess that my limited Lamia-lore comes almost solely from reading the Manga "Monstergirls"... a hilarious read, but probably not the most historically accurate source available...

That thing looks like something that LJ_Reloaded would dream about after a late night on the Stormfront message boards and cheap booze.

Djinn.

"Make your wishes."

mermaids and sirens could be easy to write about.

How about the grim reaper? Someone offering the reaper sex in exchange for more life.

Wimps are not considered sexy y'know...

Men who are strong and secure in themselves are not wimps, only immature people think that you hae to be a wimp to act like an adult.

What really isn't sexy are...
  1. pathetic little basement dwellers who are 40 years old and still live with momma
  2. 13 year old boys in 40 year old bodies who still find farts funny
  3. Men who think that abandoning their wife and children for some slut in the office is okay
  4. Men who spend 15 hours every Sunday watching football, but can't be bothered to wash a goddamn dish after making themselves a snack
  5. Fathers who don't know their childs schedule for sports or school despite being told several hundred times
  6. Men who think looking at skanks like Kim Kardashin showing her nasty tits or fat ass is sexy, but a real woman taking care of her child by feeding it is something to be ashamed of
  7. Any man who whines that his wife doesn't look like whatever 20 year old slut du jour is all over the media (after being made up by professionals and photoshopped) after she gave birth to his kids (all of whom are older than the slut du jour.
  8. Any man who thinks that woman peeing on herself is a sane way to prevent rape
  9. Any man that thinks its olay for him to go to a strip club with his buddies but can't take his wife out for a nice dinner on their anniversary because money is too tight.
  10. Any man who stays up until the wee hours of the morning on porn sites instead of going to bed with a living breathing woman because after taking care of him and the kids all day she's too tired to let him dump his cum in her then fall asleep before she's satisfied.
  11. Any man who refuses to take his kids to the beach because driving one hour is too far, but will drive across three states to meet a sports figure, or 1970's jiggle TV star.
.

Shall I go on?

Had to go find this one. I remembered hearing about it but couldn't remember the name.

Jorogumo- Japanese for Whore Spider.

Lovely woman, invites you into her home, plays music for you, seduces you... then eats you slowly with a pleasurable bite that makes even death enjoyable.

There is a lot of information on the Nephilim that would certainly be good story material.

The story that the wicked people destroyed in the Diluvial flood were half angels could be revisited into a modern story.

Interesting. I might have to play with this idea for valentines day.

I want to write a story that involves a dark fantasy creature as the main sexual interest, but am having a hard time coming up with anything besides vampires (or werewolves), which have been so overdone at this point in my opinion. Because the creature needs to be dark, that excludes things like mermaids and elves.

Both mermaids and elves can be very dark indeed, depending on which stories you read.

Mermaids in British folklore were prone to cursing people, calling up storms, wrecking ships, or just pretending to be women in distress and luring men into water to drown them. See also the rusalka and neck/nixies.

Elves: well, guess how redcaps get their caps that colour? Googling "unseelie" should find you plenty of other bad elves.
