Went to a local open air firing range this afternoon. This range, one of the few in southern Florida is run by the local Sherrifs Department. Normally it is only for department personaell but once a week it is opened for the public to use. Unfortunately you have to know someone to get down there. Today I went down there with a friend who happens to be on the department.

After 100 round on the handgun range. (10, 15, 20 and 25 yards) we went over to the rifle range. My friend started laughing when I pulled out my plinker and started loading it with .22 long rifles. He stopped laughing when I started putting one inch groups in the center of the target at 150 yards. (Well beyond the recomended accurate range.)

AFter this I was allowed to play. Some of the guys and gals there had firearms I haven't fired but have wanted to. The Department Range Master also opened up the locker for me to play.

AR-15. I've fired these as well as many of the varients. Fun to shoot but I don't want one.

AK-47. This was fun but unless I'm given one I don't want one.

M-1 Garand. Oh what a blast.
M-14 Semi-Auto. Again a blast
Mauser Karabiner 98K. I want one. Smooth and accurate.
Ruger Mini 30. Slick little rifle. I could get used to this little baby.

H&K MP5. I've played with this little beast before and was happy to make it's accuantance again. Fun but I don't want one.

Glocks, I played with a few different Glocks and find them to be nice shooting Handguns. I like my little M9 though. Maybe because I'm used to it.

Remington 870. Another old timer but one that just can't be beat.

Several Wheel Guns including my old favorite the Ruger Blackhawk. (Why oh why did I sell mine?)

Two different Desert eagles, including the Gold. A lot of firepower and nice to shoot but my hands are too small for the grips.

SMith and Wesson 500. I dropped ten rounds through this beast just to prove to myself I could. What a blasted howitzer this thing is. This is the only handgun I've run across that scares me. I definately don't want one.

Steyr Mannlicher SSG P2. This is one of the very few purpose built sniper rifles I have ever fired. Talk about a Ma Bell Special. I could have fun with this slick little beast if it wasn't so expensive.

In other words this cat had some fun today. My shoulder is sore and my hands sting a bit but I had an absolute blast.
