after the epil-stop thread, i was wondering about people's experiences with Nads (the hair removal product, not the body part). what do you think?

i'd like to start waxing but don't want to shell out big bucks. any other waxing suggestions would also be appreciated!

thanks,

nope nads sucks! I tried it..The best suggestion I can give you is..buy any of the Nair Roll on Wax..or the sugar wax. Then have a small party with ur closest friends..and wax each other..
might sound corny...but it saves a lot of money..and saves you from having to wax yourself which is the biggestttt pain of all.
But I brought Nads from the imformmerical..and it not good at all.
And I am going to try to find out the recipe on how to make your own wax at home with sugar honey and lime. It is safe and more natural then any product on the market. I just need to find the exact measurement..and how to cook it.

:D

I think hair removal products vary in effectiveness from person to person, but here's what I found:

This stuff is seriously sticky. Be prepared for green goo everywhere.

It would be extremely helpful to have more than two hands. There are some places on your body that are just too hard to reach and where you can't easily pull the skin taut with one hand while ripping the little cloth strips with the other.

These last two points may not apply to you, depending on your skin and hair:

My skin was splotchy afterwards (my skin is very pale and sensitive and tends to resent all forms of hair removal).

I ended up with unbelievable ingrown hairs when the hair started to grow back. It was truly hideous.

Ok, here is my experience... I let the hair grow like they suggest, it was about 1/4 inch (YUK and EWWW). So I take this green gooey stuff and spread (well try to spread) it over my leg. Put the cloth on and follow the instructions yadda yadda... and YANK.... well it took like maybe 2 hairs and hurt like a bitch! So I reapply the darned thing and try again ... 6 times. I remove a grand total of like 10 hairs. My leg is bright red and sore to breathe on, so I call my husband upstairs. Littel does he know what I have in store for him. I load the spatula and drop a big glob in the middle of his hairy chest, try to spread it out and slap a cloth strip on it.

We both pull the skin tight I am yank will all my might and nearly pull him off of his feet. Bless his heart the cloth only pelled back an inch. Here he is, face all wrinkled up in pain with this cloth strip still glued to his chest... Well, it has to come off now. He braces himself with the sink and I go to yanking the cloth again. :D After 7 tries it finally comes off and his chest is bleeding in spots and the cloth is covered in his chest hair. ROTFL he had a bare spot on his chest for weeks! He is still traumatized by the experience.

So for some reason it worked on him leaving him in excrutiating pain for a week (no shit) you couldn't even touch his chest and just wearing a shirt caused him pain. I felt bad after I did it  I didn't think it would hurt him so bad or make him bleed. Needless to say we loaded that stuff up and sent it back for a full refund.

Unless you can grow your hair REALLY long and love pure painful torture.... STAY FAR AWAY from Nads :D

Sugaring recipe

CuriouslilQT:

thanks for the warning!

if you are interested in sugaring, i do have this recipe that i haven't tried yet:

Supplies Needed:

1 lb. sugar
juice from 2 lemons
1.5 teaspoons glycerine
strips of cotton or cheesecloth

Directions:

-Melt the sugar with the lemon juice and simmer very slowly until it is a light golden color.

-Add the glycerine and mix well.

-Use the mixture fairly warm, but not too hot or you will burn yourself. With a kitchen spatula, apply long panels of the sugar solution down the leg and press a strip of material into the solution.

-Wait a moment and then rip off the piece of material, pulling towards you and keeping it close to the skin. This should bring the cloth, sugar solution and any hairs away with one pull.

as i said, i haven't tried this yet. but, if you're willing to experiment...

CLose enough...

heheh Thanks...I actually was looking for s recipe used in india...but this sounds close enough. I will try it next time.
And I will let you know what happens!!!!

Rip Off!

I bought the stuff...after a friend of mine had it done and said it worked wonders! She went on and on about it. I did just as the directions said too..nasty long hair and all! Well after trying for a while to get the right amount on..because it is so hard to get on your skin, even at room temperature, I pressed the cloth down...rubbed on it three times..pulled my skin as taunt as I could with one hand and...RIIIPPP....lots more pain that I imagined it would be...and nothing! Didn't take one hair off!!! I tried again...nothing again! I thought OK I am not doing something right....called my "friend" she came over we tried again...this time with both of us holding on to my skin.....three hairs!! I ended up just giving it to her!So for now I am just sticking with my razor! :)
