What a nice surprise on a Saturday morning

My house smells so good right now! :)

I was reading threads and eating breakfast, my normal routine. My doorbell rang about 9 am and I instantly assumed it was the Saturday morning religious recruiters coming to chat. Even though I never open the door to people I don't know, I went to look through the peephole to see who would be standing on my front steps. Much to my surprise, it was a delivery of fresh flowers. :rose:

Yesterday was an "eventful" day in my life- stressful would be a good description. A few big events came all in one day, ranging from very sad (a not too old pet in the family had to be put to sleep due to profound illness diagnosis) to joyous (helping another family member close on a house of their dreams) to relief (in finally knowing a mental illness diagnosis for a soon to be ex-family member after decades of wondering.)

Someone who couldn't be here to give me hugs and kisses in person sent me 18 gorgeous roses and a lovely note instead. Now it doesn't matter what else happens today, I have a smile on my face. :) And a squirt bottle in my hand, as my cats think flowers are tasty treats meant for them.

That was a very sweet thing for someone to do. :)

LOL at the cats. I've got good aim with the squirt bottle.

Wow...18 Flowers

I have to bring out the spray bottle too...but they're pretty good about it now

Congrats Cheyenne

Good things do happen to good people. :)
Sometimes it takes longer than one would like but the good things finally do happen.
I just finally answered your PM. :)

Something about that thought I really like. :)

Thanks, everyone. I know getting roses isn't anything special to a lot of the women here, but it is to me because I never get them. The flowers really are beautiful - I keep staring at them since they are about 2 feet away from my computer so that I can guard them!

What a wonderful thing to happen!

I do not feel that way either. I rarely get them too, so I can identify big time. Perhaps you can press them later and make a sachet out of them. You will then have them as a fragrant reminder.

Okay, the person I thought sent the beautiful roses to me just called, and when I thanked him for the beautiful flowers, he claims he didn't send them! He thought about it, but hadn't done so.

So, now I have a mystery on my hands. The card wasn't signed, but the wording was exactly as I would have expected from mystery guest #1. But I have a suspect for mystery guest #2 that I'm about to go check out. A smile on my face and a puzzle to solve, all in one day! :)

Congrats, Chey

Just a hint to make your roses last. Everyday or two, you should trim the bottom of each stem about a half inch. The cut should be made UNDER water, and should be diagonal across the stem. The cut end gets a callous and the water supply will diminish. Also, decarbonated sprite or 7-up(no fizz) should be added (50/50) to clean, fresh water. (I use filtered water). A little daily maintenance will keep them beautiful for a week or two, depending on the hardiness of the rose.

no, I am not a florist, but I have a great relationship with one:cool:

Hi Cheyenne...just passing through reading. Continue to enjoy your day (despite that draft of cold air).

Hope you solve the mystery. Someone thinks your special. That's a great feeling.

:rose:

But I really want to thank the person who sent them to me!

Now that I think about it, they couldn't have been sent to me because of my stressful day yesterday. Even though the timing was perfect. They came fed ex Sat delivery from an online florist so they had to be ordered early yesterday or before that. The online florist says they can't tell me who sent them, but they can contact the person to see if it is okay to tell me and call me back. The florist hasn't called back yet.

It's the kind of thing I've been known to do,
and I would have had sufficient cause,

But I wouldn't know where to send them.

In this case, it is the thought that counts. Thank you. :)

And yes, that is my biggest clue. Very very few people know enough info about me to be able to mail something to my house. Still checking on mystery guest #2...

It wasn't me. I never sign the cards, and I always do even dozens, be it one or more.
