It is dusk, the hour when the solar haze flickers out and blacklights illuminate the city.

You wake up to the taste of static and copper. Your HUD boots and lifts your eyelids, information flooding your head like a migraine. You're back in the slums of Grey Vein with no idea of how you got here. Somewhere down the block, the sign of a modshop short-circuits and sparks hiss against the falling rain. The alley behind you smells like sex and ozone.

A message pings in your neural thread:
<< 1 New Contract Available >>
<< WARNING: Control Level 33% - External Override Risk >>

Welcome back to New Vegas.

WETWARE is an erotic cyberpunk setting where players assume the role of citizens of New Vegas, a sprawling metropolis situated in what used to be the American southwest 93 years after the collapse. WETWARE is intended to be an open RPG setting where players and their stories shape the city.

This is the thread where interested players will introduce their characters and begin their journey. There are actual game mechanics (simplified for forum play) tied to a character's skills and assets. These will be used as narrative hooks during gameplay so the choices made here will impact what happens to characters during play.

What follows is a "full" character sheet. Interested players can fill out the whole thing, or fill in the basics (name, gender, appearance) and add the rest through gameplay.

BASIC DATA

Name / Alias:
Gender & Pronouns:
Apparent Age:
Sector of Origin:
(e.g., Grey Vein, Emberlight, Crimson Spires, The Wastes)
Current Location: (Where are you waking up now?)

LOOKS & STYLE

Physical Description: (Body, face, mods, fashion)
Signature Augmentation (1): (An implant, or cybernetic mod you’re known for — narrative or minor mechanical impact)
Vibe in a Sentence:

ROLE & SKILLS

Primary Role:
(Examples: Modrunner, Sensualist, Gunwitch, Neurohacker, Black Marketeer, Body Curator, Dream Diver, Street Medic)
Specialty Skill (1):
(Your strongest suit. Pick one thing you’re scary good at.)
Support Skill (1-2):
(What else do you bring to the table?)

Skills and contested "rolls" are expressed in percentages. Here is an example...

Skill % Description
[ Primary ] 60% Character has a "Narrative Advantage" (plot armor) when using this skill
[Support 1] 40% Skill is reliable with the right gear or in the right context
[Support 2] 30% The character "dabbles" in the skill and can improvise in the right context

CONTROL TRACK

Starting Control: 0% (Increases when you're compromised, dominated, overwhelmed, etc.)
Your Weak Point:

Note: Losing "control" causes a cognitive override event, causing the player to lose autonomy for a turn, allowing a player or NPC to choose the player's action for the next post.

EQUIPMENT & RESOURCES

Starter Gear: (A weapon, tool, or mod — not overpowered)
Owned Assets: (Do you rent a capsule pod? Own a sex clinic? Have a VR stream?)
Passive Income (Optional): (If you run a business, describe it here — may be rolled for weekly earnings.)

FACTION RELATIONS

Affiliation (if any): (Corp, gang, cult, freelance, etc.)
Notable Enemies or Contacts: (People who know your name — for better or worse.)

OOC INFO

Player Name / Handle:
Availability / Posting Speed:
Anything You’d Rather Not RP?
(Hard lines, kinks to avoid, etc.)

Once your character has been submitted and approved, you will receive...
  • Your starting Control level (usually 0–10%)
  • Your starting cash or asset income, if applicable
  • A contract offer or faction interaction
  • An optional rumor or personal lead to get you into the story
You can then pick a starting public RP hub or a private thread. Some suggested starter zones are...
  • Grey Vein – Street-level action, gang turf, pleasure markets
  • The Drip – Neon nightlife, VR lounges, sex dens, info brokering
  • The Hollow – Healing, mod repair, black market aug-lab
  • The Spires – Corp towers, high-end contracts, secret societies
When interacting with the world, you can...
  • RP in the hub areas
  • Accept contracts from the Mission Board (in-character)
  • Request scenes with the GM or other players (public or private)
  • Start personal arcs (training, running a business, etc.)
Game mechanics are simplified for forum play...

Skill Rolls:
When something risky or opposed happens (e.g., seducing a guard, hacking a drone, escaping restraint), the GM or player can call for a Skill Roll:
  • Use your % score (e.g., Social Manipulation 65%) as the base.
  • Reveal the opposing score (or Roll 1d100). If it’s equal to or under your skill, you succeed.
  • Rolls may be modified based on:
    • Gear
    • Narrative advantages
    • Current Control level (can apply bonuses or penalties)
Control Effects:
As your Control % increases, you may:
  • Lose autonomy temporarily
  • Experience pleasure-triggered obedience
  • Unlock hidden memories, fetishes, or override programming
  • Be vulnerable to external influence (cults, handlers, AI)
Passive Income:
If you own a business, stream, or gig, you may:
  • Earn income between major scenes (weekly, or at GM’s discretion)
  • Use it to buy gear, upgrades, implants, or fund missions
  • Grow the business through RP and system mechanics
Character Progression:
Skills improve through use, training, or modding. Characters can gain...
  • Upgraded implants
  • Influence with factions
  • Property or clients
  • Control over others (or lose more of your own)

How to Use This Post
  • Post your character sheet here.
  • Wait for GM approval + info packet.
  • Choose your starting location or contract.
  • Begin roleplaying.

I might as well get into how the game handles sex because obviously, the game has sex. This is where the Control mechanic comes into play.

The Short Version
Control measures how much influence external forces have over your character — mentally, physically, emotionally, sexually. It’s the line between agency and override.

Every player starts with a Control Level of 0% — you’re in full command of your body, mind, and choices. But as you experience trauma, pleasure, submission, addiction, or technological manipulation, your Control increases

The Long Version
Control is a narrative stat.

Every time something happens to your character that pushes them toward surrender - a neural override, a pleasure feedback loop, indulging a kink, an emotional breakdown, or simply the stress of living in New Vegas - your character's control % increases.

0-20% -
"Stable" - Cognitive Integrity
No visible override symptoms. Stable identity. Self-determined actions.

21-40% "Sliding" - Early Drift
Dissociative dreaming. Minor compulsions. Neural leakage.

41-60% "Triggered" - Partial Override Risk
Blackouts. Unreliable narration. Implants may behave autonomously.

61-80% "Ghost-riding" - Cognitive Compromise
Loss of control when stressed or aroused. Involuntary memory edits. Sexual protocols may be triggered.

81-99% "Gone-soft" - Functional Override
Ego suppression. Compulsive obedience. Susceptible to personality override.

100% "Wiped" - Cognitive Collapse
The individual is no longer acting of their own free will and will attempt to execute any commands given.

Gaining or Losing Control
Characters accumulate Control when they...
  • Fail certain rolls (e.g., resisting temptation, mental overload)
  • Submit during erotic scenes (willingly or unwillingly)
  • Use risky augments or illegal mods
  • Accept implants that carry “personality drift”
  • Experience psychological breakdowns
  • Interact with Control-based enemies (mod cults, corp handlers, certain sex androids)
Characters reduce Control by...
  • Using willpower-enhancing items
  • Seeking mental therapy (licensed or black market)
  • Completing self-affirmation arcs or major victories
  • Replacing compromised wetware
  • Sacrificing something meaningful (narrative tradeoff)
As control rises, you can...
  • Hallucinate your future self
  • Experience “blackout episodes” where you lose time
  • Have NPCs act on your behalf
  • Get secret messages, dreams, or orders embedded in your HUD
  • Trigger “Override Scenes” (controlled by GM or partner with your consent)
Speaking of consent...

It should be noted that control doesn't override consent
  • Every scene involving Control effects should be discussed in advance.
  • Even at 100%, you are still the player.
  • This mechanic is for narrative tension and kink exploration, not an excuse to disregard personal boundaries.
TL;DR
  • Control = Influence.
  • It rises when you lose yourself, willingly or not.
  • It unlocks story beats, kinks, hallucinations, and game mechanics.
  • It can be resisted, weaponized, or explored as part of your arc.

Basic Data

Name / Alias: Kayla van Heymbeeck "Ghost" (Known for her ability to slip through digital defenses and uncover hidden truths without leaving a trace.)
Gender & Pronouns: Female / She/Her
Apparent Age: 26
Sector of Origin: Emberlight
Current Location:
A cramped, anonymous capsule pod in a rundown Emberlight co-habitated dwelling. The smell of stale synth-noodles and ozone lingers in the air.

Looks & Style

Physical Description: Ghost is lean and wiry. Her face is sharp, with keen, analytical eyes often hidden behind a pair of low-light data-goggles. Her short, choppy hair is dyed a deep, almost iridescent, blue-black. Subtle bio-luminescent subdermal implants trace delicate patterns along her collarbones and across the back of her hands, glowing faintly when she's deep in thought or running a hack. Her fashion is practical but stylish: form-fitting dark tech-wear, often with hidden pockets and reinforced elbows, layered with a worn, but still fashionable, synthetic leather jacket. She favors comfortable, durable boots that allow for quick movement.

Signature Augmentation (1): "Ghost Hand" Neural Interface: A sleek, almost invisible port at the base of her skull, connecting directly to her optic nerve and auditory cortex. It allows for seamless, instantaneous data jack-ins and overlays, giving her an almost preternatural ability to perceive and manipulate digital environments. It hums faintly when active.
Vibe in a Sentence: A quiet observer with a razor-sharp mind, she's the digital shadow that unearths secrets, blending into the neon glow while her fingers dance across a cyberdeck.

Role & Skills

Primary Role: Neurohacker (Her primary focus is on infiltrating digital systems, cracking firewalls, and extracting sensitive information.)

Specialty Skill (1):

  • [Primary] Neural Infiltration: Ghost can bypass most standard digital security with a fluid grace that seems almost supernatural, navigating complex network architectures and leaving minimal traces.
  • Support Skill (1-2):
  • [Support 1] Data Sifting & Analysis: Skill is reliable with the right gear or in the right context. Once she's in, Ghost excels at quickly sifting through vast amounts of data, identifying key information, and connecting disparate pieces to form a coherent narrative.
  • [Support 2]Street Smarts: The character "dabbles" in the skill and can improvise in the right context. While not a brawler, Ghost has a good understanding of the grimy underbelly of New Vegas, knowing who to talk to (or avoid), how to blend in, and where to find what she needs on the street.

Control Track

Starting Control: 0%
Weak Point: Information Addiction: Ghost has an insatiable hunger for information and can become reckless or overzealous when on the trail of a particularly juicy lead. This obsession can blind her to personal risks or lead her to push boundaries she shouldn't, making her vulnerable to manipulation or over-extension.

Equipment & Resources

Starter Gear:

  • Customized Cyberdeck (Sleek & Silent): A compact, highly modified cyberdeck disguised as a standard data-slate. It's not top-of-the-line but has a surprisingly powerful processor and advanced stealth protocols.
  • Retractable Data-Gloves: Thin, almost second-skin gloves with integrated haptic feedback and miniature data ports, enhancing her connection to her cyberdeck and digital environments.

  • Owned Assets:
  • Decent, but not luxurious, Apartment in Emberlight: While she crashes in a capsule pod when things are tight or she's on a job, Ghost has a small, well-hidden apartment in a less-trafficked part of Emberlight. It's filled with her tech, hidden servers, and stacks of physical data chips.
  • "The Whispers" Data-Feed: A private, encrypted data feed that she uses to sell her findings to select clients. It's low-profile and strictly by invitation only, keeping her off the radar of major corps.Passive Income (Optional):
  • "Whispers" Data-Feed: Rolled weekly for earnings based on the demand for her intel and the quality of her recent findings. This usually covers her basic living expenses and allows for occasional tech upgrades.

Faction Relations

Affiliation (if any): Freelance (though she has a loose network of contacts and clients among independent data brokers and underground news collectives).

Notable Enemies or Contacts:

  • Enemies: "The Glitch" (Rival Hacker): A flamboyant and aggressive rival neurohacker who sees Ghost's methodical approach as a challenge. The Glitch is always trying to outdo her, often leaving a chaotic trail in their wake that Ghost sometimes has to clean up.
  • Contacts: Silas "The Stitch" Thorne (Underground Doc & Tech Fixer): An old, grizzled street medic with a knack for repairing both flesh and tech. Silas provides discreet medical care, handles minor augmentations, and can acquire hard-to-find tech components for Ghost. He's gruff but reliable.

Agent Moretti has exhibited signs of psychological dissonance with internal corp culture. While her loyalty score remains actionable, proximity to open culture zones (Grey Vein, Emberlight) may accelerate disaffection.

Consider reassignment or Controlled Exposure Protocol (CEP) insertion for reevaluation.
