Today I received two very nice surprises.

The first was when I went to help out one of my R.N.'s. She has a business on the side watching over peoples houses while they are away. She asked me if I could help her paint the ceiling and wash down the floor of a garage. (She promised me $100.00 for the job.) When I showed up today I found out the garage belonged to her father.

We painted the ceiling and scrubbed the floor. During one of our short breaks her father came out and talked with me. I told him that there was no charge for my work because he was the father of my friend. He seemed stunned by this. While we were talking about this he noticed me looking at a coffee table sitting in his back yard. He informed me he was getting ready to throw it out. (It was a stunning piece. The base was an "S" shaped piece of etched glass about three feet long, two feet tall and half an inch thick. The top is also etched glass. I seemed to recall having seen somthing like it once before but couldn't place it.) He later came out and informed me that he would have the table delivered to my place next week.

It was only after I got home that I realized where I had seen this table. I had seen one just like it in a Wyland Gallery about 12 years ago. The damned thing probably cost more than my trailer is worth and he's just going to give it to me. Hot damn.

The other thing was two weeks ago I sent out the watch my wife gave me for repairs. I hoped they would be able to fix it and I was more than willing to pay full price for the repairs. (I never did get the receipt from my wife.) This afternoon when I checked the mail there was a package. Inside it I found the watch, running, and a repair invoice. The company hadn't repaired it, they had replced it's working and didn't charge me a cent. Now that made me more than just happy.

(My wife gave me the watch for our anniversary seven years ago. Our first year in Florida. It's a great looking watch and cost several times more than I would ever spend on a watch.)

You would be wise to buy some lottery tickets, Cat.

Your good luck is running like a school of bluefish. ;)
