There's been many threads here dedicated to other sites pinching stories from here.

usually the lit author has to contact the site or go through Laurel to try to get it removed.

But a little while ago I received an e-mail from a moderator at Lush stories who picked up on the fact that someone submitted my story over there and she wanted to know if it was me under a different name and if it wasn't she would not put it through.

I'm surprised they would make the effort.

Unless-and the paranoid side of me cannot help thinking this-it's some sort of scam, but can't see what they would get out of it, if they never contacted me I wouldn't know.

It sounds like good news. The only downside I can see is that Lush is just trying to recruit writers.

That was pretty sweet! Did you go check them out?

The woman-Lisa- got back to me an hour after I told her that it was not me submitting the story, she said she removed it from their system.

I did check out the site, but not sure if I'll submit there. It's not that I wouldn't want to, but it would just be yet another thing to do on my long list of things I'm claiming I am going to do.

Oh, man...I hear ya.

It's one of life's little jokes.

I think I am far more ambitious than I was when I was younger, more irons in the fire so to speak.

But I probably have a about a third less energy than I did back then and less than half the time.

I get more done at 64 than I did when I was 18. And I'm much stronger. I weighed 120 pounds back then. I gained over 30 pounds in boot camp.

Health has nothing to do with it, I'm the same 32 waist I was at 20 and have less than 10% body fat.

For me its time. Still working, my e-bay store takes a couple of hours a night, writing a couple of more. I take and teach karate and do some volunteer work during the week then the wife expects me to pay attention to her and I think my daughter needs more from me now then she did when she lived with me.

Not a lot of time to add anything else.

When I'm retired I guess I'll have more time.

I know I've said this before, but Lush has a really low tolerance for violence as well was under-age sex. I mean, really low on both. I was emailing with another author who wanted to submit a story there and he went back and forth with one of their mods over a paragraph that maybe implied the characters had sex before eighteen. It did not say so, explicitly or otherwise, but he ended up rewording it.

As for the violence, they do have a BDSM section so I guess consensual violence is okay but I had a story rejected because of a non-sexual, physical confrontation between a woman and her brother.

Good to know. I have some stuff that has fight scenes between two men, I wonder how they would take that?

Interesting to see a site have a rule against rape and uphold it.

Imagine a reluctance section, but not non consent!

Sorry, couldn't resist I'll wait for the usual amigos to show up for this one.

But I do remember you saying that before and it showed me a lot that they would track down an author of a story they were not sure about.

Sounds like how a couple of "old timers" described lit before they became the biggest show in town.
