A couple of months ago I received a call from the bank about a suspicious charge on my credit card. ($8.50 at an online Dog Supply Store.) I told them I hadn't placed an order with this company and the charge as well as the card were canceled. I received a new card. At that time I had four repeating charges on my card.
I moved two of the repeating charges from my card to my wifes card. (Same account but different card numbers.)
Of the two remaining accounts on my card one of them had been on the card for years. (Barnes and Nobles.) The other was only a couple of months old and was for an extended car warranty company my wife had wanted me to get a warranty through.
I also put a couple of charges on the card throught the state of Florida DMV.
Tonight we once again received a call from the bank about a suspicious charge on my card. $9.00 at an electronics store in Miami. Because I was in work at the time I could easily state that I hadn't made the purchase and once again the charge and the card were canceled.
Now this is twice and there seems to be a pattern emerging.
The number is getting clipped from either Barnes and Noble or from the Warranty Company. (I somehow don't think they got it from the State, and I hadn't done any business with the state the last time the number was lifted.)
I have never had nor heard of any problems with Barnes and Nobles.
That leaves only one other place they could be getting the numbers and that's the warranty company.
On Monday i will be calling the bank back and giving them this information as well as calling the warranty company and trying to cancel my warranty. (Thankfully I haven't used the warranty for anything.)
It will be interesting to see what happens.
