Well, that got out of hand

Some time ago, I wrote a story about the inhabitants of a house during lockdown. I began building the backstory of one of the characters, which became a 5-part series charting her 'fall' and a 4-parter, just finished, that tracks her 'rise'. That brings me back to the lockdown story, where it all began.

Have you had a project that got so out of hand?

A year ago I read a story about a blind girl that wanted to sleep with her brother, who happened to be dating her best friend. The author stopped with the incest sex, but never explored the girlfriend’s motivation for encouraging them. I thought to myself, ‘that story needs a Cuckquean scene.’

That story is mapped out to be 18 chapters long, is 75% done, and current word count is 160k words. My goal is to finish the rough draft before it reaches the 1 year anniversary in mid-November.

Twice.

One went from a coming of age story to a four-part series of novels about a vampire prostitute.

The other went from a summer music festival incest romp to a 64k word erotic serial killer drama.

I first mentioned Erika Christensen as a past hookup for Scarlett Johansson in "Fear, Lust, and Vanity." Later she was one of four leads in my "Rendezvous" series. After that, she returned as star in her own series called "The Passion of Erika Christensen" which featured her scoring with various original characters and other celebrities. There was a lesbian orgy side story for this, a thirteen years later follow up after the conclusion, and she's even cameoing in my upcoming "Lisa in Hollywood". Sometimes characters are inspiring. It happens. :)

I have a WIP that started as something to do on my phone during a long flight but somehow suddenly connected into an already published story and then had characters popping up out of nowhere that were so interesting that the whole thing has now morphed into it's own verse of stories taking place in Queens and tie into The Woman in the Spare Room. I've now written the beginnings of 3 stories in that verse and they all promise to be long and time consuming. And of course all the ideas require heaps of research for things I don't know anything about!
I'm in trouble.

I wrote a stand alone 2 years ago about a succubus seducing a human woman that turned into a 2 parter, that was going to become a short series, that is now turning into a novella, at least, and maybe a novel with a complete over haul of the first 2 parts.

Thanks, you're right, the AH is filled with helpful writers. That one of the best thing about this place. ❤️

I began writing a story about a week before Memorial Day in the U.S. with what I thought would be a short 5K word story, intending it as tribute to a friend. But the story took on a life of its own, taking me six weeks to finally post 24k words with "A Band of Sisters and Brothers".

It's like these things have a life of their own!!!
